A vegan is a person who doesn't eat meat or any products which come from animals (like dairy and eggs). Some take it a step further and don't wear or use products made from animals or anything which has been tested on animals.

Veganism is a LIFESTYLE that avoids using animals and animal products for food, clothing and other purposes. In practice, a vegan commits to the abstention from consumption or use of animal products, including meat, fish, and poultry, animal gelatin, honey, eggs and dairy products, as well as articles made of silk, fur, wool, bone, leather, feathers, pearls, nacre, coral, sponges and other materials of animal origin.

Veganism is not a quick way to lose weight! You actually need to diet! There are plenty of health benefits to being a vegan or a vegetarian, but weight loss is not a automatic benefit!!! Veganism is so much more than the food you eat! You should check it out b/c it has a grave impact on how one lives their life.

FYI: Vegetarians do not eat chicken nor fish!!! That's still meat!!! Eggs and diary are a personal choice, but for one to be a vegetarian, they do not consume meat! If you eat meat, you can't call yourself a vegetarian! Simple as that!

Vegan means not taking in/wearing any kind of products/by products from animals, such as meat, dairy, eggs, a certain red dye that comes from insects, gelatin, wearing leather...

I don't think that living a vegan lifestyle will necessarily help you lose weight. Cutting animal products out of your diet will definitely help you lower your cholesterol and will provide many health benefits, but losing weight (I don't think) is not an added bonus.

Vegan is like hard core vegetarian. Absolutely no products that come from animals. Some (uh, less hard core) vegetarians might eat eggs, milk, and chicken, but most just eat soy products, as a sorce of protein. It *can* help you lose weight, I have a friend who went vegetarian and she lost weight, but you also have to exercise (she danced and did yoga). Just eating only fruits & vegitables alone won't make you lose weight.
