And when I do eat them, I bite off their legs first and then their little heads. Oh yes, this is a long thought out process.....very methodical....

Intelligent children are more likely to become vegetarians later in life, a study says.

A Southampton University team found those who were vegetarian by 30 had recorded five IQ points more on average at the age of 10.

I am not referring to simply eating meat in the presence of a vegetarian, but going out of their way to make sure the vegetarian knows they have no remorse, love their meat and would never stop, or whatever.

"Meat was a necessity back then since alternatives to meat weren't available and other things to eat was scarce. Now that we have an abundance of non-animal food sources, there's no reason to eat meat and it's better to let those creatures live."

I guess what I mean is, as a vegetarian, do you believe that man is evolved to be an omnivore but can do without animal protein and that in this day and age when there is so much to eat, we can do without meat?

Or do you believe that man was intended to be a herbivore from the very start?

I'm not a vegetarian right now but I think I might become one eventually because I'm going to work with animals and I was just wondering like if its bad for your body to be one because some people say its not good if you don't eat meat. And also can you still eat cheese and milk to be a real vegetarian? So thanks for everyone whos read this and helped/tried to help me

I have been having a big craving for this awesome soup lately and figured I should save some money by making it myself. I'm looking for a simple recipe that is vegetarian (eggs are ok). I will probably leave out the mushrooms though.

I've googled but haven't come across a recipe I like.

Anyone have one?

I was raised in Pakistan for 16 years (after which I moved to the US). During my stay there, I'd accompany my grandmother to the open market to buy fruits, veggies, grains and meat. And it always fascinated me, the meat stalls especially. I'd see a chicken being slaughtered in front of my own eyes (the butcher slit its throat and tossed it into a large barrel, letting it die on its own before getting it out and plucking the feather with its own hands). This other time, I saw a butcher pick up a chicken's head and pushed it inside out to reveal its brain *gag*. And I'd see goat's head lined up on a table, although I have no idea how people could eat that, really.

And despite seeing all that, although I felt sick I never felt sorry for the animals. Don't get me wrong. I'm a pretty emotional person. Suffering really gets to me. But why don't factory farmed animal make me feel bad for them? Why can I just go on and eat meat like nothing's wrong while so many people are so affected by it?

I would prefer to get answers from people who are strict vegans, since they can answer from experience. What I mean is, if you don't consume anything that comes from animal (including milk and eggs) then how do you eat such things as bread, cookies, cakes, pizza, etc.? Those things usually contain milk, cheese and eggs. I know that there are alternatives for meat such as tofu, vegie burgers and such, but I just don't understand how you would avoid milk and eggs. How do you get your protein and calcium intake?I'm not trying to be rude, I'm just trying to understand. Please, serious answers only.

I have been having a recent crisis of conscience regarding my eating of meat, and I'm seriously considering giving it up. I don't like the way animals are treated in the process of producing food. But my question is this:

If all humankind gave up eating meat, what would become of these animals? Surely pigs and cows and chickens couldn't be released into the wild, and without being a source of profit, no farm could afford to keep them.

This gentleman who should generally be applauded for foraging for food looses my respect totally for claiming that because he didn't see or hear the road kill being killed and it wasn't killed on his behalf, he's still a vegetarian. Surely people eating badger meat balls should be totally separated from those comitted to preserving the rights of all animal life, including wildlife.
