My mother had a recipe for beef stew that you put in the oven and it included cabbage. Unfortunately, it disappeared with my mother several years ago (long story) and I have yet to find a similiar one. All I remember of the recipe is that it had beef stew, potatoes, carrots, cabbage and tomatoes and you put it in the oven for several hours.

Does anyone have a similiar recipe you'd care to share?

Thanks!
JL

I squeeze the juices out but they still don't come out right. I've heard of soaking the shredings in water, but for how long? Also heard of boiling the potatoes first then shredding, but I would think that the potatoes would be too soft to handle. Please share your potato "magic!"

My parents let me make dinner tomorrow :) and I'm going to surprise them with a desert. Do you have any ideas i can do? I don't have any ice cream or pudding or anything, no fruit. My oven won't light either, my parents are working on it. I really want to surprise them, without fruit ice cream or pudding and an oven that doesn't work, (stovetop works though) can I make them something spectacular? Thanks!

Yes I know it's boiled egg and mayonnaise but what other ingredients do people use. A colleague of mine makes delicious egg mayo sandwiches but she won't give me the recipe. A friend of mine adds cayenne pepper to hers.

Any suggestions for a good barbeque feast for a small group of friends? I can't decide which type of animal to roast. Also, I have to be able to prepare it within 6 hours. Any suggestions?

All you tree hugging hippie animal lovers need not respond. I believe PETA stands for people eating tasty animals.
