I've heard somewhere to put a piece of bread in your brown sugar jar. But, can't the bread get fungus on it like this?

We are having company in a few days and they have requested chicken and dumplings. I normally don't serve a side dish or dessert when I cook them for my family--I was thinking though since this is company I may want to add a little something extra. Any recommendations on a side dish and dessert, or should I skip the side and only serve dessert with them? Thanks for your help!

I had a drink when I was in Texas last year and I can not remember the name of it. Basically, you're given ice in a glass, along with a spicy red mixture. You pour the beer over the ice and spices. It reminded me of a spicy bloody mary, but with beer instead of vodka. The name was Spanish-sounding...

I keep my butter in the refrigerator (learned that from my parents). However, I've noticed that my in-laws keep theirs out on the table, to keep it soft. I also remember other friends parents doing this when I was in high school. I only use butter for toast, grilled cheese, baking, etc (things that soft butter works better for) so it seems to make sense... IF it's safe.
Is it? If so... how long can it be out?

Thanks in advance!

My boyfriend's friend, husband and 1yr old son are coming over this Sunday and I need to make something for lunch. I don't want to do anything too complicated and think lunchmeat sandwiches are to blah. Any ideas?

I have a hard time finding wax beans. I like having them at Thanksgiving and I do not like the canned or frozen. I like the fresh produce kind. I found them recently and I wanted to cook them now and freeze them after and then take them out and use for Thanksgiving. Is this ok? As I know that it is better obviously fresher to have them at the time when you cook them but as it is hard to find and I found them now, I was thinking of cooking them and freezing them until Thanksgiving because I know they would not be any good to freeze uncooked.

Last night I made the mistake of serving ramen noodles and rice to put the stir fry on, and of course all six people went for the noodles! This rice is really good and I hate to waste it. Any good ideas?

Hey,
Last year I used a site, that was provided by my health teacher, to generate a nutrition label after entering the ingredients of a recipe.

I can't remember the site (and I've changed schools), so does anybody here know where I can find a nutrition label generator like this?

Thanks
