If you're gonna do it to save the animals, alot of vegans are gonna tell you that you shouldnt drink milk, because you're giving money back to the industry that is killing cows. Alot of vegans don't approve of vegetarianism since we still eat animal by products, and because of that we support animal abuse in some ways.
If you're gonna do the vegetarian life style, I sujest that you not cut out milk and cheese and eggs out, atleast not at first. It can shock your system, after all, you body is used to meat and things.
If you feel bad about eating by products, volunteer at the animal shelter. Domestic animals need help too.
P.S.
I don't have a problem with eating eggs because one of my friends aunt is a farmer. I have yet to drink the milk, though.

Hello. I'm also a vegan! I've became a vegan when I was fourteen years old. :) and I'm really very happy and glad that so many people are doing the same now too! =)
okay. Yes, you can drink milk of course. if you choose to become a lacto vegetarian that is. Cheese, milk, yogurt, is acceptable.. just don't eat chicken, turkey, beef, mutton, and all.. some vegans i know still consume fish... but it is simply their choice of priorities. :) have a healthy life!

Many other answers have given you some great websites as references! Definitely check those out to gain further insight on what you would and would not like to eat. Many vegetarians may be further classified as lacto-ovo vegetarians, meaning that they consume dairy and egg products. Or you could be lacto-veg or ovo-veg, excluding eggs or milk respectively.
If ethical reasons are your primary force for your dietary decision, it pays to be aware of where your milk comes from. Dairy cattle may be subjected to cruel treatment just like beef cattle.
I would suggest easing into vegetarianism rather than diving headlong into a diet devoid of all the things you are used to, but that's just what worked for me. I would bet that you'll be pleasantly surprised at the increased amount of energy you have once you replace meat with healthier, more digestible options.
I wish you the best of luck in this endeavor. Happy Vegging!

there are a couple different types of vegetarians, I am a lacto-vegetarian. I do not eat meat or eggs, but I do enjoy dairy. Then there is an ovo-vegetarian, they do not have meat or dairy but they will eat eggs. then there is the ovo-lacto vegetarian that do not eat meat but do eat eggs and dairy. a pure vegetarian will not eat any type of product that contains any animal ... Some people also consider honey as an animal product.. I personally eat honey... Hope this helps!!

im a vege and i drink milk. Vegans dont eat any aniamal products e.g milk, eggs, cheese etc.
However, to make sure i buy themost cruelty-free milk i try to only use oraganic milk, cheese and eggs, this is a lot more ethical as sometimes the animals are still cruelly treated even if the egg box said they are free-range. Organic is best.
Well done for chosing to be a vege, good on you!xxx

Yes, vegetarians can choose to drink milk. In its simplest definition, a vegetarian is one who does not eat the flesh of animals, birds and fish.

I'm an ovo-lacto vegetarian so I can and do drink milk, but I purchase only milk manufactured without the antibiotics and growth hormones that are included in most products.

Lacto-Ovo Vegetarians drink milk, but vegans do not. Most vegetarians that do drink milk, probably drink organic milk since it's more ethical. Vegans drink soy, hemp or rice milk.
