I am a vegetarian who has always avoided gelatin based on the knowledge that it was an animal by-product. As far as I know it still is (I can't find any information to the contrary) but a friend of mine was insisting that it isn't made from animals anymore. He thinks that was the "old fashioned" way and that it's completely artificial now. My mom thinks he might just mean that it's so processed that it hardly counts- but I still don't want to eat an animal product. If someone knows of some cold hard facts proving that it's not I am willing to listen but I really don't think it's changed. I know that there is vegetarian gelatin but I don't think they use that commonly- I think it's more expensive and therefore not worth it to most companies. Anyone know anything about it?

I had sushi for the first time last night and I think I may already be addicted. I had a shrimp sushi and an order of shrimp rolls, both fantastic. I tried a yellowtail sushi, still alright, but not great. I tried a spicy tuna roll, no thanks.

What are some other good sushis or rolls I should try? I was thinking I kind of want to try octopus and eel next. Can anyone recommend anything really tasty?

I'm not one to brag, (really!) but I make some really awesome cookies. They always turn out just so and they are delicious! Except the past few (3+) batches I've made over the course of the summer. They are flat, crumbly, stick to the pans and for some reason unknown to me... salty. They are all different recipes, all that I've tried and done well with before, but they are not turning out at all! I haven't used different ingredients, no outrageous amounts of salt, use the same pans, oven.... what's going on and how do I fix it?

I just found this hotsauce and it is the best. I've been putting it on everything. Any recipe suggestions?

I mixed together cream cheese (could use sour cream) with a very healthy dose of Franks and ate it with pretzels. Super yummy.

@ 6 AM I ate 4 scrambled eggs. An hour & a half later, I was hungry again. I thought eggs were supposed to fill you up & keep you full for a while.

Everyone has their secret weapon in making the perfect meatloaf, as do I. Some people use bacon, others soak a piece of bread in milk or cream and add that to the mixture etc etc.
What's your recipe to this simple but delicious comfort food?

The folder is divided into 12 parts. What would be a good way of dividing up food into those 12 parts? For example, meat, dessert, sallads... ?

My mom said I can't be a vegetarian unless I am able to supply my body with high protein and iron. I know raisins is good for iron but it seems so sugary is that really good for you? And I eat peanut butter and jelly a lot for protein but she said peanuts raise cholestoral. Any bright ideas? ^_^
