According to the directions that came with my Kitchen Aid mixer, I should use the flat paddle to make my pie dough.

However, I have also read that the wire whisk cuts the shortening into the flour better.

I have always made my pie dough by hand, cutting the shortening into the flour with a pastry blender. But I want to try it with my mixer. Which attachment do you use? Do you reccommend the mixer over the old fashion method?

I put beans on my salad, and like Lima beans and ham hocks, but I don't know of any other ways to make beans that taste good.

A friend gave me several peppers which are a combo of cayenne, jalapeno, and serrano. I am having a problem telling the difference between some of the jalapeno and serrano because they are of similar size and shape. I can eat jalapenos, problem is the serranos are quite a bit hotter. Is there an easy way to tell?

Hi! It's my parents anniversery and i wanted to make them a cool dessert. they are out by the pool right now so i wanted to make it now. What is something easy to make using normal stuff around the house. Not stuff like certain baking stuff for a certain recepie. It doesnt have to be quick but i dont really want it to be complicated. Any ideas? Thanks! :-)

I am having a Christmas party in Puerto Rico with friends and family. The theme is "Santa's Workshop". Has anyone done this theme and if so, what did you do? The party will be celebrating my son's first bday combined with the traditional Christmas celebration on the 25th.

I'm going to sound totally hopeless here and please bear in mind that I don't cook that often - so not really a silly question - just trying to be safe :-). Anyway, I'm making chicken casserole for dinner and stupid me thought I had the oven pre-heating but after browning the chicken and getting veggies ready etc. I realised oven wasn't on.. it heats up pretty quickly but does the fact that the browned chicken was sitting in a not hot oven for a few mins make a difference (obviously the chicken was still warm when put in)..., will it be safe to eat when ready and yes, I am blonde! ;-) Sorry for silly question and thanks for advice in advance.

I have recently been at a tasty thursdays in the downtown area, and have been very curious whether crab or fish cakes are of Jamaican or Spanish culture, I could be wrong, and would stand corrected if someone can answer this...

Again, the recipe please and hopefully can use Olive Oil instead of vegetable oil eh? I am trying to keep it simple and not too much of eating deep fry foods. By the way, my tongue is very sensative to hot spices, can handle abit of spice but not firey hot---BIG THANKS!
