How can one cook with virgin olive oil? Can it be used to fry eggs, sausages, etc.?

As a hispanic, my family used to cook with corn oil. But now that I've read about the benefits of olive oil, I have bought some. However, I don't know how it's used; I've heard that it can burn! How can it be used to cook hispanic dishes and are there anything important I must know first? Thanks for your help.

Zatarain's dirty rice?

why is it so darn spicy?? It smelled so good cooking, and I took a big ol bite of it and WOW it's spicy. I don't like spicy things and my palate is sensitive to hot. Is all Zatarain's rice spicy like that or just the dirty rice?

Anyone know where I can buy 1% Alcohol peach wine please?

Tesco used to sell it but stopped and it's delicious. Just the thing to drink chilled, on a boiling hot day lazing in the garden

What candy from your youth brings back fond memories! Maybe give the period and location too?

For me, a Cherry Mash (cherry nougat covered with peanutty choclate) at the town grocer in Burns Wyoming, 1970. Got to buy it myself (alone) with earned money from growing/selling carrots.

What are some good cheap recipes?

College cooking recipes! .. (read)?

So I am renting an apartment with a friend when I start college in the winter. I am just wondering what are some good College Friendly recipes? I don't really like mac & cheese from the box or fast food that much (who knew a 17 year old wouldnt! LOL). I wouldnt mine taco bell every once in a while.

I start buying pots/pans/untensils/cups and other cooking supplies soon and figured I would ask for some recipes so I could start cookin when I get there!

Maybe something that I could make on a weekend and freeze and heat up during the week? I like mexican .. chicken .. beef (never cooked it myself though) .. i love dips! i love all types of spices. i just dont do good with fish/seafood .. but I will probably be cooking it for my roomate because he likes fish.

Any other suggestions would be helpful.

Is it safe to eat strawberries that show signs of fungus?

We usually just throw out strawberries that have fungus on them, but I just bought this box and was going to eat them when I saw a few small green spots. Can I just wash them off and eat them?
