It does not get digested. And it doesn't hurt anything inside either. It comes out the other end just like other non-digestible food, unchanged and in the same amount of time.

There are no side effects from swallowing gum. If there were......we would all be up sh*t's creek without a paddle. It also does NOT take 7 years to come out. That is a old wives tale. It will pass thru in a few days.

They only thing I have seen take a few months to pass, was when my MIL accidentaly swallowed the partial bridge in her mouth. It took 4 months and a trip to the ER.

Don’t purchase into the myths — once you swallow gum, that gum will only go by the digestive tract like a number of different foodstuff you devour, see you later as you don’t have intestinal issues.

It takes a few hours, no more. Anyone who tells you more than that is full of it. Yes, there can be side effects, such as indigestion, heartburn, etc. But, you have to swallow a LOT of gum to do that to yourself. It's not a good idea to swallow it, but hey, whatever floats your boat.

Gum does not digest, it goes straight through, in however long your system takes to make a through trip. (It varies from a few hours in rare cases to a week in rare cases the other way)

Yes, it can lead to ulcers and stomach cancer. It can take days to digest and it is impossible to fully rid the body of it.
