My husband is Hungarian and I would like to learn how to make some Hungarian dishes for him.
Not Hungarian goulash. He doesn't like that.
But if anyone knows any other authentic Hungarian recipes they would like to share, please post it. If there's ingredients that are unfamiliar in the US, please suggest a close substitute.

Greenghost, maybe you know?

Eggwhites (primarily ovalbumin in composition) can be beaten because the ovalbumin protein partly unfolds under shear stress to form an excellent surfactant (it makes bubbles.)

Further, ovalbumin denatures nicely with a moderate amount of heat, and those beaten bubbles can, with the inclusion of a little starch or fiber, become structurally stable.

Both these properties are important to me, since I require a very low-carb diet. A low-carb diet means that if I want anything that looks like a baked good I have to rise it with beaten egg-whites and hold it up with insoluble fiber. Ergo, beaten egg-whites are the only thing that keeps me from being vegan.

Various polysaccharides work as a surfactant and make plenty of bubbles, but those bubbles seem to have no stability when cooked. I presume because being polysaccharides they do not denature.

I *think* this unfoldability is on account of ovalbumin being in the serapin protein family, but I don't know.

I bought some Jennie-o turkey burgers that were not frozen when I got them. I didn't have time to cook them so I threw them in the freezer. Can I just put them in a pan and fry them up without thawing (like with ground beef patties) or do I have to thaw them first in order to cook them safely? I'm not to familar with cooking ground turkey.

I have just found this definition on Biology-online.org:

Pescovegetarian: A vegetarian who consumes dairy products, eggs, and fish, but does not consume other animal flesh.

Whilst I don't eat meat (including fish) I do eat dairy products and eggs. I also buy leather shoes, but this is usually because I forget to look until I'm confronted by the leather logo after I've brought them home!!

So because I eat eggs and dairy products does this make me a vegetarian or a pescovegetarian - or something else altogether?

Just some suggestion or ideas would be great! ^^
I have raspberries, strawberries, bananas, plain reduced fat yogurt, brown and white sugar, whipped crème, flour, wow the list goes on but give me some ideas for a dessert, I'll probably have the ingredients so you don't have to worry about that as long as it does not include chocolate chips or any type of candy.

I'm taking my best friend out for a fancy dinner for her birthday, and I've decided to do the "corkage fee" option. A cabernet or pinot preferably. Thanks!

I'm trying to eat healthy - not really worried about weight, just want to be able to make meals that will keep us healthy. Heart disease and diabetes runs in my family so I'm looking for any recipes that would help us prevent those diseases. Does anyone know where I can find some healthy recipes. Thanks

Hi, I'm a new mom and am trying to find some dinner recipes that are healthy but quick and easy to prepare (take 30 minutes or less). I've been searching for some dinner ideas on the internet and was looking at some of the recipes on www.foodnetwork.com Rachael Ray's and Robin Miller's recipes sound pretty good and seem like they'd be easy to prepare. Anyone know if their recipes are healthy? Or can you give me a few dinner recipes / ideas that are quick and healthy.

I'm making Sloppy Joe's for my hubby for dinner tonight. I was just wondering if anyone out there has a real good recipe? I'd rather get a good recipe, rather than the same old Sloppy Joe recipe. Thank you!

I posted a question about Duncan Hines "chocolate" couple of days ago (it turned out the most moist/delicious cake ever!) Thanks to everyone who answered. Now I'm trying to make "Pineapple Supreme" I guess you can call it upside down cake. It calls for 1 1/3 water instead of water can I use "the juice from the Pineapple" ?

I have been to Ireland and they call their breakfast (the fry up) an Irish Breakfast and it is usually just the same as we English call the English Breakfast, I have been to Scotland and had a Scotish break fast (not porridge with salt), which dam country invented this breakfast and why do the others try to pass it off as their own?? by the way the hash browns that are served all over England and Wales by JD whetherspoons are actually an american thing.
