my fave salad is ... boil some pasta , boil some new potatoes, chop up some salad - lettuce, cherry tomatoes, cucumber, spring onions , raw carrots - grate some cheese, put butter on the potatoes and chop chives over them, then add ALL ingredients into one bowl (including the potatoes) and mix and eat. yum yum.

Fruit is good. Mandarin oranges or strawberries. Nuts, especially walnuts. Artichoke hearts. All different kinds of olives. Cubed meats or cheeses from the deli. Sliced summer squash or zucchini (raw). Roasted red peppers. Any kind of seeds.

Try halved seedless grapes. Pieces of apple. Sunflower seeds. Sliced strawberries. All are good in salads.

I like to add chick peas. I don't think you would call that unusual. It has a nice nutty flavor and goes really well with salads.

I don't know what you would call unusal but I add granny smith green apples, sunflower seeds and dried cranberries. Delicious!

Instead of a dressing, I usually put cottage cheese on top of my salad and mix it in like a dressing.....that is probably unusual!!

I add glazed walnuts and dried cranberries ;-) Gorganzola cheese goes good with that mix too...served on top of baby spinach.

i like to add banana peppers, potato chips, sunflower seeds and tons of homemade ranch dressing!

I don't know what you consider unusual, I put peppers, olives, artichoke hearts, palmetos.
