I would like to make a rice and beans dish to go with baked Mexican style tilapia tonight. I have red beans, black beans etc in my pantry. I simply can't find a great recipe for authentic or not so authentic rice and beans. Do you have a favorite recipe?
I also have onions, garlic, and spices galore to choose from.
Thank you so much

I seem to remember it even had tomatoes (sliced, not ketchup)...but what else - I was just a kid and I can't remember all the toppings.

I have a 10 month old. She likes chicken. I cooked up a huge chicken breast for her yesterday and cut it up into little tiny pieces and put it in a baggy in the freezer. I plan to take out small amounts at a time and warm them up for her. How long will the frozen pieces last in the freezer?

i pulled a steak out of my freezer and especially on once side it has a very distinct grayish brown color. its not fat. it doesnt smell bad but i dont have a very good nose so i dont know for sure. is the meat still good? is that normal or should i throw it away? i bought the meat about 2-3 weeks ago, it spent a little under a week in the fridge and then about a week or two in the freezer

I have a breadmaker, and I make a multigrain bread recipe every few days, so I don't have to use yucky store bread. The recipe is 3/4 cup+2 tbs water, 2/3 cup kashi 7 grain, 3/4 cup whole wheat flour, 1 cup bread flour, 2 tbs brown sugar, 1 tsp salt, 2 tsp yeast. This recipe turns out well, except the grains are hard and hurt my teeth. Today I substituted the 7 grain for an equal amount of pinhead oats, on the theory it would make the bread more filling and the smaller pinhead oats would mix in better, and be more tender. Well, I was right about that, they do mix in better. However, my loaf cooked up substantially smaller! It's still tender and yummy, but a couple inches shorter than usual! This means I don't have as many slices of bread to work with, and I"ll have to make the bread more often, as well as the slices will be more calorie dense. My theory is the soluable fiber in the oats held the loaf together somehow, is this right? What can I do to make the loaf turn out right?

Okay, recently i've been buying a different brand of eggs, I think they're free-range, i haven't a clue.

Anyways since i've started making things with these eggs, i've noticed once i crack the eggs into a jug, theres the yellow yolk, and the slimey clear stuff aswell, and a white ish coloured blob in all the eggs...

At first glance, it looks like a bit of sperm :| And i have to say, i can't eat eggs with that thought in my mind.

Could anyone tell me what that white-ish different bit is when you crack the egg? Because i love eggs, but i will never touch another egg as long as i live if i don't find out what it is.

Thanks in advance.

They are both just bread and sausages, but i would NEVER put brown sauce on a hot dog, though i might consider ketchup on a sandwich one of these days.
Is it just me?
