When I run tap water in a glass, it looks slightly cloudy. But in a few seconds after it settles, it turns completely clear. Why doesn't it just come out of the faucet that way?

It was from a fairly recent issue--within the past year or two, I think. It was in an article with cabbage pie and cheese quiche. It was really nice and simple, and I think it substituted vegetable oil for most or all of the butter/shortening in a normal recipe. Does anyone have it? I can't find it on the Vegetarian Times website.

I bought some of those chololate covered kisses to use in a cookie recipe that uses M&Ms. I just thought it would be fun.

Anyways, I wonder if anyone has a good recipe for the cookies that use Candy Coated Chocolate as an ingredient?

My friend at work was shocked when I suggested some cuts of beef for a big dinner he was putting on. In his opinion beef = barbeque = lowbrow rednecks. He said he'd never consider serving it since in his words it was "unhealthy" and "blue collar". What is going on here ??? Note: He did say chciken and fish were OK.

I was trying to make this sause, with the following ingrediants:
Sauce:

1/2 cup dry white wine
1/2 cup homemade chicken stock
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
1 lemon, juiced
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
Chopped parsley leaves, for garnish

but it boiled away, literally. How do I keep this from happening?

I have one, rarely use it because I always have lots of leftover garlic inside. Is there a way to squeeze out every last bit of garlic without having a huge hunk of leftover in it? Thanks. Or maybe it's better to just chop it up manually...?

I am trying to find out what kind of wine that has such concentrated fruit that during prohibition, it was shipped from California to Chicago, where they "cut it" about five times and it was still good juice. All I know is that it is still around today, named for the varietal, and classified as a "diverse red". Fastest person to get back to my boss with the answer gets a bottle of Dom! The only hints he gave were "chewy".
