We keep hearing the argument about how "they're going to do it anyway"(a cop-out). According to that logic ,there must be a positive side to teenagers having premarital sex. Otherwise why would anyone want to enable behaviors that can lead to unwanted pregnancies, STD's, emotional distress, rape convictions(sexual patners over 18 can be charged with rape, consensual sex or not),lack of focus on academics and overall preparation for adulthood, etc? Have we given up being responsible adults by neglecting to teach our kids some self ccontrol and respect for their bodies and self esteem?
To make it clear, I'm not a fundamentalist trying to force my beliefs on others. However, I am quite concerned with the consequences recreational teenage sex has had on our society. .
I have no objections against responsible, well balanced, accurate sex education being taught in schools.providing parents have the right to see the curriculum and opt their children out of the classes
