You could always write him a note, have a friend break the ice or call him, tell him you need the page or problem #'s for a homework assignment or anything like that.
Have a few friends over and invite him too.
There really are hundreds of things you can do.

You have to draw him out. Put him in situations like you are taking to your friend and try to get him to say something to your end. I was shy too and it took a girl to get me over the fear of girls. The more interaction with you two and a friend is the easiest way for him to get the idea that you wouldn't strike him dead with a question. This is more effective if the friend knows this shyness and can ask him an easy question to draw him out of his shell. Patience is the best thing you can have with him. he may turn out to be very different than he is now. Good luck to the two of you.

Don't be to pushy. Let him have alittle space, do a little more each day. Don't force him to do anything because that will just push him away more and more. But you do have to try and get him out of his shell, get him to do stuff, have fun, get him laughing. I used to be the same way. And now im not shy at all.

first see whats bothering him
second, try asking him if he wants to go see the movies or something like that
third, maybe he just needs to get to know u a little bit better. Spend more time with him, but not too much so u don't seem clingy

Try some innocent and fun flirting! Maybe that'll get the ball rolling. Or maybe ask him what he likes to do, and go do it. Doing something a guy likes to do will open him up.

And your question is....? :/There's nothing you can do to stop him being 'shy'. :/ Just like you can't make someone less outgoing, you can't make them more confident either; they have to do it for THEMSELVES. If you've got a problem with him being shy, you shouldn't be with him; simple as that!

Bring out the wild side of him. Take him to one of your friend's party or just on a date to the movies. Get to know him more, he'll probably open up to you & get "crazier" :]
