Friends - September 2007

I have these two friends. And they're fighting over something thats REALLY stupid. One of my friends, lets call her friend A has a guy friend and he's like an older brother to her. But Friend B thinks that friend A likes him in a different way and now they're fighting over it. Friend B is constantly picking on friend A about her brother/ sister relationship with the guy. And Friend A is getting sick of it. If any one gets what I just said I would like some help on how to solve this problem.

I lost my Grandma about 6 months ago, and I am still taking it really hard. I've cried almost everyday since then. I'm only 14, and I saw her everyday for 6 years. We were so close. Now, my dad's best friend is dying. He has brain cancer, and I've known him my whole life. He used to take me fishing... my parents have known him for more than 20 years, so they are really taking this badly. How can I move on from my Grandmother's passing, and how can I prepare myself for my dad's friend's death, so I don't have to go through that pain again? Thanks.

Part of our assignment for our retreat this week is to write some letters to a number of people. I certain person I'd like to write one to is someone I consider a friend/acquiantance, but I don't know much about her. What should I write about if it's supposed to be a letter of affirmation, or of praise?

P.S.: Please don't give me a whole letter you made yourself for me to use, I'd just like some suggestions and/or tips. Thank you.

somwhow i want to let it out to shame him...
he just got his hair relaxed.
and the rest of the things that he does is really kinda gay..
also...
he gets too defensive when we talk to him about something gay...but its just a joke... then he goes..."I DONT DO THAT!! IM A GUY!!"

We've been friends for about 6-7 years and we dated off and on for quite a bit. now are friendship has become more of a sexual thing. I dont want it to be sexual, but every time we hang out he wants to kiss and do other things. We hang out with the same group of friends, so it's hard to end ties with him. How do I end this friendship, or at least the sexual part of it, without ruining my friendship with the others and completely pissing him off? I have tried saying something to him before, but it's like he brushes it off and keeps doing the same thing. Also, we were going to date recently but "school" got in the way on his part. Yet, he still wants to do things. I still kind of like him, but I don't think he feels the same for me.

I've been feeling lonely lately and have been yearning for companionship to cushion my woes. But now I realize that not many people want to befriend those who are always down, which is understandable since it's a philosophy I agree with. I mean, I myself would rather talk to someone who's upbeat than depressed.

But if you're the one who's gloomy and having difficulty getting people to keep tabs with you, then how can you expect to bring yourself out of your misery?

How can you expect to be optimistic if you don't have any friends to uplift your mood? And how can you start to have friends if there's nothing to be optimistic about? It's like a catch-22, like a trap. Something's gotta give...

My two friends are in a fight. One is my best friend, one isn't as close to me, but i still like her. I want to stay friends with both of them, but I think they get mad at me when I talk to the other. They had a falling out when my bestfriend started to hang out with my other friend's brother. My other friend thought that the two had an unhealthy relationship so she made a big deal about it to my best friend. My best friend became defiant and stubborn. So both of them are mad at each other.

I'm having friend problems. We have been friends for EVER (she is my main friend) and recently she has been treating me really badly. Like on the weekends (it has happened 3 weekends in a row!) she will invite all these other people and i will be the last one to be invited or an after thought and then be called. And when ever i go with her her boyfriend goes along and she sometimes forgets that i am even there, i already called her on it and she never changes!
It is kind of hard for me because i have not had boyfriend yet. And throught out the years i have always been much more into boys then she has. So its like she does not care about boys and then bang she gets a boyfriend and i don't have one.
And it is really starting to piss me off!
Overall i am angry that she is forgeting about me and putting me last.
p.s. my mom says i should not forget her but just start hanging out with other people

She won't go to rehab, and i've been trying to help her but i dont know what to do anymore. I feel like i have been watching her die for so long, and i feel like a horrible friend for not being able to help her get over this addiction. i am always there for her when she needs me. Is it just making things worse by letting her know someones always gonna have her back when she's too drunk?

I've been in college for 2 weeks and I haven't made that many friends. It seems like everyone in my dorm already knows each other but they just go out to drink and party and I really don't think that makes them friends. Would you rather just know alot of people to go out and party with or would you rather have a couple of really close friends?

I lost my husband a year ago in Aug. I cannot imagine being with another man. My mother-in-law passed away last nov. and my father-in-law has already remarried in aug. Am I wrong staying by myself? Help me understand how people just forget about the person they were with for years and just start another life.

My bestfriend who is a guy admited to me that he has been in love with me for the past year. we have been trying to still keep our friendship going even with his feeling for me but its hard when i dont share the same feelings.
he HATES if i even look at another guy and he gets jealous to the point that he has been starting to put me down to make himself feel better. i was engaged to his really good friend for the past 4 years but we just broke up about 6 months ago so i have been going out and meeting a lot of new people and having fun with my girl friends. this bothers my best friend because he feels like id rather hang out with other people rather than him which is not true its just nice to go out with the girls every once in a while.

I love my friend, and this may come off as rude, or mean-spirited. She loves singing and acting, but isn't really good at all. Her singing is just...really...bad! And she's a total diva.

Whenever you're singing, she comes in three times as loud, obnoxiously. She also tells my group of friends we aren't great singers like she is. Even though my other friend Maria is a beautiful singer.

We recently tried out for a play, and she didn't get in. I did. She acted like a total diva, and said, with a very mean-spirited tone of voice, "Fine. Whatever. Congratulations." I asked her if she was okay, and I said I was sorry, but she blew me off and gave me mean eyes. When she doesn't get a lead, she acts really pissy, too.

How do I tell her to either stop acting like such a diva, or that she isn't great at singing? Telling her flat out is a bad descicon, she'd get INCREDIBLY mad.
