I've been in college for 2 weeks and I haven't made that many friends. It seems like everyone in my dorm already knows each other but they just go out to drink and party and I really don't think that makes them friends. Would you rather just know alot of people to go out and party with or would you rather have a couple of really close friends?

I think it is better to have just a few close friends. Otherwise, you spread yourself too thin if you try to do stuff with everyone. After all, you are in school to graduate, not to party and flunk out. You need to use your time wisely. Grades are important to stay in school, and also future employers sometimes look at your GPA. If you don't graduate, it will make quite a difference in your earnings over a lifetime. Better to postpone the mad social whirl for what is really important.

probably alot of people because at school if your friends were absent or something like that or if they have to move you would know alot of other people. I have alot of friends at school but its really good to have atleast one good friend. I have 4 close friends. And i can trust them and tell them anything, so i guess its better to have a couple close friends. but dont get down and dont be sad about not meeting a whole lot of people yet. You have only been there for 2 weeks. Dont worry. im sure if you are really friendly and if you be yourself, you will make lots of friends. Dont be sad. Sometimes it just takes time. Smile:)

I think that both are good. Having close friends is always nice because you have people to talk to about personal stuff, and you can trust them. But, I like having other friends that aren't so close too.

I'd rather have a couple of close friends.
Others end up being acquaintances, they use you when they want something.

I don't need to know a lot of people...I was that way in high school and it was just a lot of trauma and drama. I believe you only need a few real good friends not a bunch of so-so ones. But that's just me!!
