Friends - September 2007

[Selected]: All categories Family & Relationships Friends

I'm almost 16, and I am known where I live for being the daughter of two very, well.. let's say powerful people in the city. I have a lot of close friends but when I meet new people and they know who I am, they seem turned off by me. I admit, my family has money and it's nice and all, but embarrasing. So, if you knew that my parents were two huge business attorneys in the city and you met me, what would you think of me? I'm not superficial or egotistical, but I'm not shy about who I am. Help, please!

I have a friend that I've known since we were both six. We're practically attached at the hip and always have been. But, lately, she seems to like to be annoying me. One of the actors I know asked me to join a drama competition with him because he needed another team member. I said I would and my friend pretended to jealously say 'lucky'. I knew it was a joke, but he asked her to come, too. I decided that I wanted to audition for the Spring Play at my high school. She had to, too. I had this great idea for a fund raiser and I told her. She told the team captain that it was her idea and she got credit for it. Random guys come to sit and talk to me at competitions and she HAS to make fun of them so that they leave.
What's up with her? Is it just me or should I dump her for a while? She is becoming a serious problem for me. The whole 'steal idea' scheme forced me to resign from the comedy team I was on, the one that I got drafted into. I love her like a sister! PLEASE help me!

why is it that most christians say things from the bible like they're facts, I mean kids nowadays say "jesus was the son of god" like the say "2+2=4" its annoying and no ones stops them because everyone else in the room is Christian as well. If I were to go around school talking about Allah or mecca, I would get jumped Immediatly, I just want to know why a lot of Christians are so smug? Why is it that out of the hundreds of religions in the world theirs just happens to be the right one? It is one thing to feel strongly about your religion but to denounce others? that's just wrong

okay so i have this friend, the same one i asked a question about before, and she is on the jv cross country team[[lets say her name is Ann]] and my friend [[kate]]is on the vball team, and shes never played before, so me, my twin sister and my two other friendsall went to one of her first games. i had one of those friends give us all a ride to the game, which was in the school gym, so we knew exactly where to go and stuff. but Ann, who we are all close with, coudlnt go cause she had a xc meet. and she was mad cause we went to our too Kates vball game. And now Ann thinks we all like Kate more and that the friend that planned everything including the rides and such to go to Kates vball game is obsessing over her. She sent out an email saying that she has a home game coming up, and saying we've never been to any of her xc meet in all her years of running, and we HAVE been to at least one of her xc meets, and shes claimging we never have. its annoying and she thinks we dont like her.....

(((Quella Bella))) in only one word.

If you can't in one word, please keep it short.

I couldn't found better than the Word "Love" to describe her.
Quella Bella is Love.

I met this one guy who had almost no friends and I decided to befriend him. For 1 year and 6 months, I laughed at his unfunny jokes, tolerated his annoying laugh, but now he keeps wanting to be with me but he spends all his time insulting me and trying to make fun of me. He's gotten to my last nerve. How do I get rid of him without hurting him (his mom and mine are friends so if I say anything too mean, my mom will never stop riding me)

was on a night out last night for a friends 40th. There were 15 of us and I didn't know most people. We went to a club and I found £70 on the floor! I told 2 of the girls and said I must hand it in. One of them said if it had a purse or wallet with it (it was just cash) then yes but how do you know who's it is and that they thought the staff may pocket it.

I kept hold of it, not knowing what to do when about 20 minutes later a girl in the group who I had not met before started crying and frantically going through her bag, I asked what was was wrong and she said she had lost all her money, around £50 she thought, I told her I had found some money and it must have been hers and handed it over.

She was very thankful and I was happy I had done the right thing however, the girl never even offered to buy me a drink!!

Am I right to be annoyed? Or am I wrong to have expected some sort of reward?

My friend and I are very close, but lately shes been hanging out with other sorts of people. Not to be mean, but they are the 'bad' sort of people. They smoke, and scive off school sometimes, but they're only like 12/13. Everyday her attitude gets worse and she drifts off further. Im getting more and more nervous that she might start smoking, or stealing from the school shop and stuff (which the rest always do). Should I talk to her, or just let her lead her own way? Please help.

My cousins are very rude. I need them to behave. I've tried talking to them. Sometimes, it works for one day, but then, they forget about it. They like to start serious fights on my own brothers, they mess up people's houses, and they use fowl languages. I'm afraid that maybe in the future, they might do something terrible. I need help quick! Thanks!

What do you think would sadden me?

I'm asking this again, because no one understood so, please, read the question before answering!

I DON'T want to make anyone sad, I'm asking if you know what could make me, or any friend, sad. In other words, what NOT to do...

When a girl stares at you from distance, then when you look she looks away. She does this for several weeks, then she randomly comes up to you and starts talking to you and being all nice and bumping her arm into yours. Then she goes through the door the same time I'm going out when she could've gone through earlier, or she cuts through my line behind me.

Okay, so I know this girl who sent a somewhat offensive and hurtful email to her best friends and including her boyfriend. The girl was going through a tough time. She and his boyfriend were constantly arguing and she didn't have anyone to turn to since her best friends were in a different country. She said sarcastic things like "yea, you're the best friends ever that's why you don't know what i'm going through right now. you're never there"... etc. When she finally calmed down, she realized what she did and sent another email apologizing for the first email.

Now, was it reasonable that she blew out like that? Should her friends forgive her? Or do her friends have a reason to get mad at her and potentially not ever talk to her again?

Thanks.

My friend has a crush on her therapist. My friend is upset with me because I have not acknowledged to her that I think her therapist would be flattered by this crush. My friend says that all of her other close friends have acknowledged this, except for me.

I have not acknowledged this because:

1. It's speculation as to whether or not her therapist would be flattered, and;

2. It's very very (very) unlikely they would ever be together.

For the above reasons I do not think it's wise for me (or anyone else) to say that to her. I should also add that my friend is receiving therapy for a disorder of which one "symptom" is being obsessive.

What do you think? Should I have acknowledged that her therapist would be flattered, or am I correct in believing that it is better not to?
