My brother has really been acting out lately. My dad's moved to Georgia, so he's not here to dicipline them. Before you say divorce problems, we're not divorced. He doesn't say no, he won't do things, he'll say, yes, he'll do them, but never do them. He never does anything we ask and has no respect for anyone.

HELP!

A "wrong" age for dating? E.g., if I'm 14 and he's 16, is that going to be a problem? Or if she's 20 and he's 31, is that a problem?

I have a 4 yr old girl who doesn't listen to me. if I take her out shopping she takes off, talks to anyone and everyone. She won't come back to me and pretends that she is lost. ie, she will go around the corner from where I am and tell whoever is there if they have seen her mum becuase she can't find me, I am standing like 3 metres from her. At home, she does stuff regardless of what I tell her, I have tried the 'naughty corner', a merit system, sending her to her room, taking things away from her, smaking, and nothing works, she just doesn't care. I am at an absolute loss. On the other hand, it is a completely different matter when her Dad is around. She does everything he says. What can I do. I am at the point that I don't want to take her anywhere in case someone snatches her or something, but I can't leave her home by herself. I would leave her with her Dad, but he works long hours and isn't home when I need to go out. Please help. Kelly

This is kind of a follow up to my question last night. My younger brother (13) seems to get treated better and more lenient than me (15). Well I took some people's advice and tried to talk to my mom and Dad today about how it made me feel.

I found out during this talk that they have set my brother up with a college fund investment thing, but never did one for me. My mom basically told me that they never expected me to go to college but just expect me to get married and make babies. At best my mom thinks I should go into hairstyling, until I have a baby at least.

How do you deal with your parents when they have such low hopes for you?

I've worked since I was legally able to work, and quite frankly I'm damn tired of it. I hate it. When you work in an office, there are those office politics, of course most everyone has something they hate about their job rather it be stress, their co-workers, the pay or something else.
So what's wrong with being a housewife? They work very hard. They take care of their home, keep them clean, clothed, fed and is a very important part of a family. I think that would be a very rewarding job.....my dream job actually. I know there is no pay, but to have a healthy family and a happy home would be more to me than money. I know not everyone feels that way, but all of my needs would be supplied (food, shelter)....
So to all the housewives/mothers out there---kudos to you. Even though society sees it as being a cake, mundane job----I think it's one of the most important jobs of all!

Since day one my mother-in-law has been very negative towards me. My husband doesn't say anything to her and when I bring up how she hurts my feelings he ignores the conversation. She doesn't approve of how my husband and I live. Every time she comes over she thinks the house is trashy looking. What she fails to realize is that we have a five and three year old running around the house playing. She doesn't care who's around, she has said some pretty mean and hurtful things in front of my kids, like about my ethnic background. She blames me for not allowing my husband to sleep. She's stuck in the 1950's where the mom was suppose to be a robot. Take care of the house, kids and husband. Can somebody please give me some advice on how to handle her without loosing my cool?

I believe all women should be put above their male companions and be honored. I would sacrifice myself to protect my wifes honor and the honor of my family. I make dinner everyday and spend that time with just her. That is her time to talk to me about anything she wants. I devote myself completely to her needs during that time and it makes her feel very special. Other honorable men, what do you do for your womans honor. Maybe we can teach some of the other men out there how to treat women with some good answers.

I am so sick of my life. My mom is making me so miserable. Is it just a phase? Or something else.... She always blames me for her mistakes, and seems to take all her 'anger' out on me. Well, I'm sick of being blamed. No wonder my self-esteem is so low..I'd rather be dead than have her as a mother. What should I do....?

This really happened
My daughter was trying to work the grill when she was in on her own and the twenty year old cooker dials broke so that the oven does not work anymore.
my Partner (not her mum) expects an apology as the cooker was working before. I told her that it was not my daughter's fault as it was so old. We are sorry that we do not have an oven but thats no reason to take the blame for something.
I did not want to discuss it in the pub 2night and when my partner would not leave the subject I said I would walk off home. In the end I did walk home on my own.
she came home and said that I would regret it.......
any advice please.
