my sister is haveing a baby tonite! im sooooooooooooooo exited!

It is called this because the hospital uses them to wrap the baby up after it is born. Then they pass the baby to the mother.

So she "receives" the baby in this blanket. Does it make sense now?

Back in the day before women could say the word "pregnant" in public... and before they started showing child birth live on TV, women used to wait until the baby was cleaned up and freshly wrapped up in a blanket for her to "receive" him.

Also maybe because you receive so many blankets? Just another thought. But that's a good question!

I do believe it's because the blanket receives the, ever so smelly, vomit.

congradulations..My daughter in lAW HAD ONE LAST THURSDAY AND MY YOUNGEST DAUGHTER HAd her fIRST YESTERDAY..
the blanket q is a good one..

cuz when the baby comes in the worl that is the 1st thing they r put in and it is receving them in to a new world
