I am totally clueless as to what to do about it. I was so excited to become a mother-in-law as I only have one son and thought this would be a chance to gain a daughter. But my d-i-l wants nothing to do with me. We rent a house to them - very cheap. Don't visit without an "appointment." When grandchildren came in the picture, she does not like me to interact with them. Constantly tells me I did something wrong. Don't fix their bottle position. Don't pick them up. No is usually the first word I hear. Other relatives get to see them more than we do - once a month. Don't ask if we would like to do something special with the kids. i.e., they let a friends Grandma make my grandson's first birthday cake when I made many beautiful theme cakes for my son's birthdays. We are never first. We learned they are moving away from other people. Have tried talking to my son, he says it's nothing we have done, just the way she is. She doesn't seem close to her own parents. What can we do?

My husband lives overseas and we have been married for a year already. He is my second marriage. I was denied of the visa on our first try bec of my first marriage of which i thought was never considered a marriage at all bec I was only a minor when i got married then. So, now I am just waiting for the courts decision before we can reapply for a visa again. But things with my husband now have been hard.He has problems at home, I want to help but I cant bec of being so far away from him.I want to give him my love and make him feel he isn't alone. The past days,he told me he has no more strength with everything. But he told me the last thing he would want is to walk away from me and the love he has for me.I am totally confused!I cant move, cant eat and cant even take care of things around me bec of being so depressed but more than I am, I know he has more problems right now, that he is more depressed of so many things bec of being alone and not having me around him to support and love him.

This was in her name even before her marriage and we were told that its hers before marriage now they change their stance that too after 10 years of our marriage..i feel they should understand that we have some aspirations and dreams in that property..legally anyhow they are foolish to think they can give...but morallly how could they be so nasty and rude..even if we ask them about they feel as if we are doing soemthing wrong..!

You don't want your kids to eat too much, so you say all the cookies are gone. You don't feel like going out, so you tell your date something important came up. You're overloaded with errands, so you call in sick.

Lies, all of them -- but we don't really like calling them that. In a new Associated Press-Ipsos poll, over half of respondents said lying was never justified. Yet in the same poll, up to two-thirds said it was OK to lie in certain situations, for instance, protecting someone's feelings.

Apparently white lies are an acceptable, even necessary, part of many lives -- even though we dislike the idea of lying.

Is lieing something you practice or try to avoid?

I always try to talk to her and give her a hug but she never makes an effort to talk to me. Her husband (my dad) died 18 months ago . She is 68 years old. She doesn't have any friends. She is very religious and believes that people only stay friends for as long as it meets their needs. I agree with her as noone has been round to comfort my mum.

She spends her time chatting to people on a tarot card line and watching TV. She cooks and cleans too and I think this helps her give her a role in her life (i.e as a parent). She seems to believe in a hierachiacal structure of family where parents provide and deserve respect and children should listen and not talk back. The problem is I'm an Adult. I noticed when I moved out for a while she made more of an effort. I know that at her age she may be depressed. She used to be an active part of this relogious gr but she has lost interest after none supported her. Although she has asked me to go with her , I find it difficult as I'm not religio

I was reading replys to a questin I posted about why people dont take the time to truly know someone before judging them. Alot of responces stated my lifestyle as being gay and a parent on top of it all was a sin. Everyone believes in god in their own way, and may choose to believe in the way the churches view my type of lifestyle. To be honest I feel that god is with everyone, NO MATTER WHAT! I was given a chance to be totally happy with my life and to raise opened minded children that except all kind of people. We have taught them not to be judgemental on anyone because of differences they may have then our own. Some may call me a sinner, or other horrible names, but to raise a child to respect all different types of people in their lives is not a sin, it is a blessing that most children are not taught to do in todays times. Maybe children should be taught not to hate differnces, but to except them in their lives. ( Adult's should also be taught these values)

Every Monday Nigel takes his £10 pocket money from my purse. This time he took an extra £2 because he thinks its time for a raise.
He's nearly 13 and suddenly I feel I cant trust him. He says don't worry. He was to explain he just forgot. Time to stop the practice?
