Try doing something fun with him. When you're done, tell him that you can do this everyday with him as long as he does as he is ASKED. Otherwise your parents should be able to solve this for you. He just wants attention from you.

First off - What are you yelling for? You should not be letting a 5 year old's antics frustrate you like that. Why don't you try keeping his mind occupied by constantly keeping him involved in activities? Try some sort of art project or coloring. He cries when you don't give him what he wants because he is bored. If you kept him constantly occupied with something, you wouldn't end up having to yell at him either.

Where are your parents? They should be there to intervene. Yelling at him will only make matters worst. What does he want that you wont get him. Are you just being mean or does he need discipline. Maybe a bit of both. Talk to your parents(calmly) about their role in this. And remember he wont be 5 forever. Be kind, you may be counting on him to help you one day.

Always remain calm.. and believe me i know how hard that can be at times.. and dont buckle.. If you say no stick to it. Let him see you unphased by his crying, ignore it if you have to. Soon he will see you mean business and arent giving in. If you loose control then hes shifting the situation , and kids do love to get a rise out of you. Good luck big bro

ok, but I want my ten points. Your bro carries on like that because he has found that he can get what he wants like that. If you have the strength and discipline yourself to simply ignore him, no matter how much noise he makes, then he will eventually shut up, and, slowly, he will learn to ask nicely when he wants something. you will be doing him a huge favor, and yourself.

Swat his backside instead of yelling at him. DON'T get angry; remember he doesn't know what's good for him, only what he wants at that moment. When you swat his rear, say, " I love you, but you can't do that," or something similar. And be consistent in whatever you say and do, so he can learn from the experience. Good luck!
