i'm a 33 year old. i study full-time and have a responsible job. but i am a mess inside. i come from an abusive family background. my father was emotionally abusive and convinced me i was hopeless and unintelligent. i was really close to my mother who died 7 years ago. i wish it happened to him and i feel guilty for still feeling it. 4 members of the family have cut him out of their life, including one of my brothers and his only sister. i have no contact with them because of his games i have lost a lot of my family. my mother kept the family together. i still see my father hoping he will change. some times he is ok other times he is nasty, especially when we are left alone. this is ruining my life as i feel hopeless. my dad is never empathic or cares or listens to me. he has never shown interest. he attacks my beliefs and things and people i love. why does he still do this to me? he keeps setting me back when he plays his game. my confidence is disappearing.

im in a long distance realsionship with sumone, and his family has never met me. but they keep talking trash about me. like, his mom says that im too controlling and that i have him on a leash..but she dont know ANYTHING about me..and thats totally not true. and then his borther is saying how i must have a personality defect if i cant get a guy near me. i totally can, i just love the guy im with so i choose not to. My husband and I got married almost 4 years ago with a nondenominational faith with only witnesses there. There was no romantic proposal, big dream wedding or being walked down by my dad. Say an american girl in her 20's. i'm 27, american but i have a limited vocab and i make all kinds of mistakes because I was shy since i was 5 and even now i am the same way, never had friends, and don't have much practice talking. I'm slow too.

Everytime i see Americans in the bus or downtown or anywhere, they speak so fast and are so fluent when talkking to eachother. I dont' think they would ever accept me. So is it safe to say a girl who is like that, would never like a guy such as myself SOLELY because i dont' speak like her?

My boyfriend and I have been together for 6 years. We moved in together 4 years ago and since the very first day he has been verbally abusive. He has demanded that I leave at least 4 times per year. When I do, He always asks me to come back and says he's sorry and didn't mean it. He is usually drinking at the time and seldom remembers what he says to me. He is verbally demeaning to me each time he drinks. He promised that he would change, but so far he has only gotten worse. Do you think he will or CAN change?

My girlfriend and i have some real childish arguments, the latest being a picture frame on the wall. Its one of those big frames where you can put 10 photos in the back of it and show them off all in one picture. Well she wants it to be 10 photos of her missionary work she done in africa some years back, i am a lover of dogs and i think that some pics of doggys would look much nicer. She wont compromise and have 5 of each so i told her NO! its doggy or nothing am i being unfair?

My dad won't cross on the stairs, won't open umbrellas in the house, won't put shoes on the table (even if they're in a box), won't wear the colour green, is very worried about breaking mirrors, won't eat meat on Good Friday (even though he never bothers with church) and has to have the Xmas decorations down by 'twelfth night' even if it kills him. He also insists on windows being closed even in the height of summer in case a bird gets in the house, which is bad too. He also has to enter the house by the door he originally left from. Failure to observe these superstitions makes him mad. My mum follows none of these superstitions. Anyone else with a superstitious dad?

my friends are just like me they dress punk, they're all hilarious, they're pretty daring, and they also took their time to buy me a christmas present with their own money! she knows to much about guys and ,well, you know, "it". she jst brings up weird conversations about these things too. one day my best friend wanted to tell me some thing about that kind of topic and my sister just had to know (meaning she was nosey) then when she hears what my friend is telling me she goes crazy. asking me all kinds of questions about males and "it". one day she made me explain what a condom is and how to use it. i didnt know how to explain it to my LITTLE sister.

What's the best things to do to flirt with a guy? I know him well and he hasn't got a girlfriend. He's a friend but i really like him.
