I'm 17 and this guy whom i like a lot is 24. We've made out lastnight. but nothing more. Is this illegal since im under 18? What makes it illegal?

It's called statutory rape. When one person is younger then 18 and the other is older than 18. If one of the parents decides to press charges on the 24 year old they will be imprisoned for it. Love doesn't count. The law was made to protect minors. You are considered an adult on your 18th birthday in most states. But until then you can't do this, by law, without the permission of the parents. And if the 24 year old is smart they will get that in writing. I know someone who just got out of jail for this. He spent a year behind bars cause the girl lied about her age. The mom wigged and threw him in jail. He didn't even know why he was being jailed. Now he asks for I.D. and I don't blame him. Just the fact that the 24 year old is with you makes it illegal. Sorry honey.

If your parents disagree with this they can persecute him because you are under 18, especially since he is over 21. With you being over 16, he might could get away with it with your help, but I would suggest holding off any physical stuff until you are 18 just in case. Also, make sure your parents approve of this, this is only a 7 year difference, so it's not so big of a deal, but your parents may not think the same as I do. If they do not approve then you will have to be extra careful with him until you are 18. You are almost there though, so be patient. It ya'll truly care about each other, it'll be worth the wait.

it is illeagal but you would have to have some jacked up parents to press charges on him with you being 17. but i should mention the mental state of the guy. i am here to tell you that once you hit 21 it is a whole other ballgame. he is 100% in a relationship or he is mentally unstable and likes to mess with children17 is not bad but i guarentee you he has done younger. and also think about this 17 to 24 is 7 years so my question for you is, is it ok if my 12 year old makes out with a 5 year old? think about it.

the legal age is 18 but your parents still could have a say in this if you still live at home because he is 9 nears your senior the could have him locked up for statatorie rape

it's illegal because you are under 18. doesn't matter wut you do, you are still a minor. you need a parent consent form to continue dating.
