When my parents divorced, I was about 3 and never had a relationship with my biological father. My mother remarried when I was 5 and I consider my stepfather my father.

I was always made to feel like something was wrong with me when I would inquire about seeing my father. Neither my mom or stepdad could understand why I would want to. They actually got mad at me, and acted as if I was ungrateful for all they had done for me because I wanted to see him.

Isn't there an innate desire to see your biological parents? Is it wrong for parents to try to keep their children from seeing their biological parents because it is hurtful for them to relive those old memories?

My maternal grandmother told me I shouldn't want to see them because my paternal grandmother was living with a man and my paternal grandfather was a drunken adulterer. Should that keep me from seeing my biological father - warts and all?

11/20/06 -- So, I have this guy friend, and he always flirts with me. Majorly. All the time, whenever we're together...and I really like him. I'm quite shy and reserved about most things, and I worry because we go to different schools. I don't want to ask him to go out with me yet, because my parents want me to wait another six months before I officially date anyone...group dates only. Would it be uncool to ask him anyway? He has told me directly that he would go out with me if I asked him, but for reasons I can't explain, I still can't do it...I'm confused and I don't know what to do!

11/27/06 -- Alright, all of the sudden, this guy now has a girlfriend. But I thought he liked me...he even took me to homecoming! What's the deal?

Thanks for any help.

Okay here's the thing. My bestfriend has always told me that I was going to be her MOH, since hs. 15 years later, it has finally arrived. She will be getting married in 6 months. Initally I said yes but because of financial circumstances, to be MOH would be stressful. I'm a single mom and work m-f nights. With paying bills and saving for a home, it doesn't leave me w/ much extra income to spend on the dress ($250), shoes, jewelry, bridal shower, present x2, bachelorette party, tanning sessions, etc... I told her yesterday that I couldn't be part of it. But that I would help in any way poss. Also, it has gotten back to me that she has been complaining I wasn't doing my "work" on her wedding. I do feel mean but I don't think I should have to dip into my "house" money for just 1 day.

We don't have animals in the house. Neice is going through a divorce and her dad says the dog is her only friend right now. It goes everywhere with her. My husband told them it is alright. I am NOT happy about the situation at all. Am I being mean? I feel bad but, we have many nice things that are not replaceable. What do I do?

I love being around my best friend. Both of us are divorced, straight, and have kids. We are not necessarily attracted to each other physically, but at the same time I feel the need to be with her constantly, just to hang out. I want to sit next to her and touch her arm or leg just to feel close to her. We have discussed this relationship before but then things in our lives lead us away from each other for a couple of years and now we spend time together on a regular basis. We have kissed on one occasion, but felt kind of weird. But we feel the way we feel. What to do? I feel like I really love her. I constantly think of her and want to be with her. Any suggestions?

know when we got married, the church was very anamate that we were not living together before the wedding. My friend got married about a year later to a guy she was living with, and every church she talked to (including mine) wanted them to live apart for six months before they'd marry them. (they got married by a Justice of the Peace) My brother and his finacee are living together now, and plan to get married in a Catholic church. They claim they've never been asked for her address. Is this common? Is it a "don't ask, don't tell" thing?

I thought that it would be more effective to wipe my nose on her sleeve, but then she might think it's really "cute" that I gave her some attention.

It's the same woman who poked me in the rear with a spoon and asked me to speak "dirty Italian" to her even though I don't speak Italian.

I think my man is cheating on me b/c I've gotten pictures of him and the other woman from his friends, but his friends don't like me they hate me. I tell him about it but he denies it and say they are old pictures and then he questions me about not trusting him. He denies that he's cheating and say that I'm the only gurl he loves and ever wants to be with he even proposed to me. I don't know what to do, should I believe him or not, cause if I don't and I leave him and it's not true then I will be making the worst mistake of my life, but if it is and he's not telling me then I deserve better.

What should I do??

I am 22 and engaged to a girl that I met on True.com. We met 2 months ago. Yes, I know that this is fast, but we have both prayed about this and we know that this is right. The problem is my parents. They are seperated and do not get along very well. They are furious with me for being engaged. It is not only the fact that we met online. They think she is a loser and has no ambition because she had to drop out of high school to take care of herself. She is 19 and she plans to get her GED. They are also mad because she has no drivers license. She is getting that, in fact we went to the highway patrol office just today and got her a study book. My mom is telling my dad things that are not true about my fiancee. For example she told him that she told her that education means nothing to her. She never said anything remotely close to this. I was sitting right there when this supposedly happened.

I have a really good friend that I've know for a few years now. I just dicovered she's in love with the same exact guy I'm in love with...she just doesn't know I love him and I've loved him for three years now I've just been to nervous to confess this to him. She just met him two months ago. I've known her for a while through different academic and recreational groups. She just made a move on him and asked him to lunch...he refused and she's very upset! Now I cant tell her I love him because that would break her heart and she leans on me for support through this tough time. I feel so two faced and I never thought this would happen! How do I tell her? It's driving me nuts! I need to confess to her!
