I'm 30 and my life has never been worse.

I live in a city where I know almost nobody except my boyfriend, whom I live with. I am lonely and need some other friends besides him, since it's not fair to count on one person for everything. I'm not a person who makes friends easily--usually a good one comes along every 5 years or so, so it took me a lifetime to build up 5 or so people I really love and trust. I have been moving around a lot the last 5 years or so, so I don't have any good new friends and I've grown apart from my old ones since we're 3000 miles apart. I'm also depressed, and because of that, have low self-esteem (but I have no problem opening up to people once I get to know them).

The main problem with making friends when you're depressed is that you don't want to be a downer or clingy, but you can't get rid of the depression until you have a good support system. Catch 22. What should I do? Please do not say church, because I am not religious and never will be.

My boyfriend told me yesterday he thinks he still has feelings for his ex (they dated for 3 years). I'm his first girlfriend since her, and he's only ever been in love twice...once with her, and now with me. He says he loves me and has never been this happy. However, his ex (who is in MN) just started dating someone else. He's jealous, and he feels like he's lost her forever. He and I are in VA, so it's not like a relationship would work out for them. I think he's just scared because he's finally realizing that the past is the past; it's over. However, he''s wondering if he should try and get her back. I understand how he feels becasue I felt the same way when my ex dated someone else. My boyfriend and I are really serious - he told me he could see himself married to me. But, he's still hung up on his ex. I feel so sad and lost. I just don't want to lose him...what do you think will happen? Will he choose me?

We have lived together for 2 years, and I want to get married. I have been married before and have 3 daughters from that marriage. He has never been married and has no children. We have never really had a fight over anything substantial and always seem to get along well. He is very supportive in the raising of the girls, and in my attending school. I love him, but want to get married for security reasons and to show my daughters a positive marriage relationship...HELP me to understand why it's so important to him that we don't get married? He says he wants me to stay forever...confused!

I am a stepfather of a 14 year old girl who for the most part is a pretty good kid. Recently she has been acting out loudly towards both me and her mother when asked to do anything around the house. The last incident involved me asking her to do the dishes. She yelled at me that her teacher told her to do her homework and she needed to get it done. I agree that her homework comes first(by the way she is an A student) but this was just an excuse as she had all weekend to do it and the dishes would not take long because we have a dishwasher. Well, one word led to another and she screamed that if I touched her it would be child abuse. The neighbor friend of hers was walking by and overheard her screaming child abuse. The neighbor friend decided to bring her mom and find out what was going on. My wife has cleared up the matter with the neighbor. I have decided to ground my daughter and take away her things she likes. She has gotten her father involved, who believes she should listen to me.

If I showed confidence with my body while I was dating this guy, and he liked it, would it be hard for him to understand that I have weight issues about staying thin (pill popping)? He knows I used to model, but I don't anymore and I still have problems, but I never really showed it. But I feel like I need to tell him because while I was having this problem, he made me the most comfortable with my body. So would he understand, or would he think I was weak or less-confident/fake? I'm nervous to tell him. :(

My grandma and my husband have been sleeping together for years. They try to hide it but I know that they do because I have caught them on more than one occasion. Whenever I catch them I just close the door really quiet so as to not disturb what they are doing. Now its getting to the point where I dont want to share my husband with my grandma anymore. She leaves all kinds of stains in the bed and I'm afraid that she might wind of pregnant. What shall I do. Should I allow them to continue to sleep together or should I just mind my own business?

i keep apologizing to my bf about things i did in the past but he doesn't seem too forgiving and i understand. but i think it's unfair him to take 3 days to think about what he should do about us while i'm forced with the stress of having to wait for my bf to possibly to break up with me. advice? how can i truly prove to him that i'm willing to commit?

I have a guy-friend who I have always been interested in.

He is going through a divorce, and I told him - upfront & honestly - that I liked him and asked him when he was ready if he would try going out on a date with me. He said yes. We started talking and getting really close and wound up having sex.

Sex didn't change our relationship that much; we were still friends - but flirty friends. After a few weeks, we calmed down on the physical stuff for awhile because he wasn't ready to move on from her yet.

As the months went on, he started talking to other girls (I was casually dating someone else as well). Now, he states that sleeping together was a mistake and that we can never be anything more than friends. He has turned down-in-out mean to me now. I haven't changed at all; but I'm not a doormat and I'm not taking his sh*t.

We fight all the time, because I still feel something and he says he never will. Which, hey, sucks for me. He is pushing and pushing - and now, I just give.

I honestly don't think he was just after sex, because we hung out without having sex or even mentioning it. But, my question is - do you think he got scared? Could he have started to feel something? Could I be missing something?
