Okay, I didn't do anything with my girlfriend, but now that I have your attention, could you help me out?

Hi, I need a little help. If you have read or have a copy of either of these books (A Walk Across America, by Peter Jenkins)(The Natural, by Bernard Malamud) I would greatly appreciate it if you could give me a couple of quotes from these books. And if you could give me page numbers as well, that would be great. Please help if you can.

I am in my tenth year of misery.
I really don't know why or how we lasted as long as we have. (Not much in common. ) I have found myself hating him as of late.
He lost yet another great job. He keeps telling me he is just laid off, but he wont call and see if they need him yet. This happens with EVERY job he gets. I am so fed up that I really can't take anymore of his crap.
See he left state for 2 glorious weeks, and in that time my oldest teacher noticed an improvement in his behavior. Heck even I was happier. Pretty much after this happened I really got thinking I might be better off alone.
I don't want another man or anything.
My main problem with everything is he won't even talk with me about any of it. Instead he leaves EVERY nite, supposedly to friends.
I really don't know but 10 years and he still can't get it together.
So now I guess I just need some outside help. Thanks

Well first he asked me, If we brokeup would we remain friends, then he quickly rephrased his sentence and said, When we breakup will we remain friends..and I didn't answer him, Because all I could do is think of what does he mean..When..Do he think we won't stay together? That we have no future together?..Or is he planning on breaking up with me soon, but still wants me to be his friend afterwards..What do you think? And should I tell him how I feel?

I would like opinions and advice as to whether the following relationship can be saved. Last year, I came out of a long term marriage and met a lady coming out of a long term relationship. We both knew our former relationships had long been over before our break-ups. She presented herself as a very traditional "one-man woman" and said she wanted an exclusive relationship with me. She also made a big deal of being old fashioned and that she had only been with two men beofre me. I fell in love and we have been together for a year and I have been faithful to her. Now I found out that she has slept with at least two other men more than once in the last year she was supposedly exclusive with me. To make it worse, she slept with them in my bed while I was out of town. She lied at first and then came clean. I told her I forgive and love her but she seems unable to get over the guilt. She tries to find ways to blame it all on me. Should I forget it or keep trying? Please be kind.

I was with this guy on and off for a year and we were not serious. Then he dropped me for another girl. We remained netural and we still talked to each other. It has been a year later and he had broke up with his girlfriend for a few months. Recently, he asked me to be his serious girlfriend. He keeps on telling me that he had made a mistake and that he wants me to give him a second chance. I kinda have this "insane" feeling that he really DID changed! I don't know what to do because I am afraid of getting hurt again but at the same time I don't wanna miss out on a "possible" something. I am not really sure of how I feel about him. I think that I don't feel the same for him but I think that I still do. I am so unsure of myself. I don't know what to do! Can someone give me some advice!! HELP!!

All of your answers are really helpful.... but some more tid-bits....

Affairs are well -known at my company, and I'm not married, so I feel a little differently toward my situation. Many co-workers have spouses, children, even grandchildren working at the same large company. I know my boss was having an affair w/ another coworker (before i was promoted) because she and I were friends. I've been seeing this guy for several months, and I have changed his life. and the girl who reffered to me as wanting to save him.... I already have. He could be the perfect person for me, minus all the material things taht he can't provide me.

I'm more worried about what people will think... Is it REALLY career SUICIDE? I never thought of it like that.... Will my boss, another dumb*** think of it that way?, will his boss? then his boss?

What's wrong with a single girl finding a man who may be right for her if it will NOT effect her career? I don't mix buisness w/ pleasure.

after my divorce i started dating this guy for a few months who came on very strong, but then backed off, he claimed out of fear of getting hurt & being the rebound guy. we agreed to be friends cause he wanted to keep me in his life & i played it very cool with him even though i was hurt, calling him once in a while. friday nite i got the late nite call from him saying how sorry he was he hurt me & that he let me go & how much he missed me. he called again 2 hrs later and had obviously been drinking - and he was going on & on about how he has issues, but really misses me. Should i take this call seriously?? P.S. it is very out of character for him to lose control and make a call like that, plus we never slept together cause he said in the past he has slept with women and then dumped them. I haven;t spoke to him since friday nite - 'we just texted each other a little bit over the weekend & i tried to keep things lite and joked with him a bit-now what?

They were together for a year. She's a germ freak, they broke up because he is an alcoholic and occasional drug abuser. They have been apart for a year. He got his 2nd OUI, BUT got into AA 11months ago. They have been emailing each other. she went over to his house, drunk with condoms, threw up, he said he wasnt ready to have sex again. But there was some "penetration" without either having an orgasm...oral sex with out protection... she said she blacked out most of the night. Does it make him a bad guy to allow this "penetration, without calling it sex" while she is obviously drunk? I told her, he should have sensed that she was drunk, and after she puked, he could have put her in the shower, wrapped her in a blanket on the couch to sleep it off. Others say she is responsible for her actions, but I wonder where he was the sober one, is he somehow the "responsible" one knowing that in the year they were together she would not engage in this kind of behavior without protection.

You are hanging out with two guys who are friends, one of whom you are kind of interested in, and the other one you aren't really attracted to at all.

The one who you're not really attracted to asks you on a date, and seems determined to spend time with you. He's nice and doesn't creep you out, but again, you're not all that interested in him. What do you say?

I know this guy for 2 years. He is my best friend's brother. I learn that he has crush on me when I first met him but at that time he had a girlfriend. Then, they broke up because of some reasons. Her brother started to show that he is interested in me more ever since he broke up. But I keep my feeling from him because I am not very sure whether he is the one. As time passed by,I started to develop more feeling towards him. The reason I avoid him because I am afraid he starts to approach me so that he can forget his ex.The way we go out together are always been helped by his sister. His sister, on the other hand, does not know how I feel. I start to tell her bits of it when she moved to another town for further study. Now, I lose contact with that guy. I do not know what I should do. Should I send him a massage, asking him how has he been since his sister gone? But we have never call or even message each other before. Yet, there is something inside me want me to just say hi to him :(

My 8 year old son has ADHD. Since he was 3, he gets up in the middle of the night and raids my kitchen, making messes and wasting anything that isn't locked up tight. He is on medication for his ADHD, but he still wastes no opportunity to touch things that don't belong to him. We have tried punishments like taking away a privilage when he steals, giving him a boring breakfast instead of things he likes, sending him to his room, and even spanking. Nothing works. We hate having to lock up our kitchen to save our food from our own son. Its not just the kitchen either - within minutes of sending him to bed, he is ransacking my room for goodies I may have hidden there, or simply because he knows he is not allowed to do it. We are not willing to accept that nothing can be done about this, and that he is not capable of making the right choices, but we are at the end of our patience and need some help - any suggestions? Please, no jokes, we aren't laughing.
