after my divorce i started dating this guy for a few months who came on very strong, but then backed off, he claimed out of fear of getting hurt & being the rebound guy. we agreed to be friends cause he wanted to keep me in his life & i played it very cool with him even though i was hurt, calling him once in a while. friday nite i got the late nite call from him saying how sorry he was he hurt me & that he let me go & how much he missed me. he called again 2 hrs later and had obviously been drinking - and he was going on & on about how he has issues, but really misses me. Should i take this call seriously?? P.S. it is very out of character for him to lose control and make a call like that, plus we never slept together cause he said in the past he has slept with women and then dumped them. I haven;t spoke to him since friday nite - 'we just texted each other a little bit over the weekend & i tried to keep things lite and joked with him a bit-now what?

I know your question was directed towards guys, but I had to answer. This sounds way too familiar. I am very sorry to say, you must be careful. He truly sounds like he is playing games. He obviously is not that into you or he would had taken the risk of being your rebound guy. He wouldn't had been able to stay away. Drunk phone calls are more known as booty calls. I know you haven't slept with him, please wait awhile before you do. This sounds like a set up for a huge fall. He has already let you know that he has slept with woman and dumped them. You obviously like him, keep talking to him and date a little before getting hot and heavy. Make sure you're not another notch on his belt. Hope you dont get played.

Don't believe any answer that says the truth came out due to alcohol. Drinking causes depression, and more than likely he called to talk and share what he was feeling at the time. I've made the good old drunk call, various reasons. To see if I could get laid, to express my sorrow about splitting, to say I was sorry, to seek sympathy, the list goes on. While it may be true that he was being honest, I'd catch him face to face sometime and just ask what the call was all about!

Play it off and see what comes out of it. I know that sometimes it could be the alcohol or sometimes it could be really the way he felt just didn't know how to say it, alot easier to tell you the truth. Good luck.

sometimes being drunk helps you with fear, and you say what is truly on your mind...

best to keep it cool at the moment, and let things go where they will...

Damn women always want to be friends -- even when a drunk calls. (?)

when we make drunk calls it is usually to make peace with our quarrels. nothing else. then the next morning it'll be like, "i did what..?"
