we all were told that global warming would produce more and stronger hurricanes. Well the last two years this has proven to be false since there has hardly been any activity this year and last year. So what happened with this whole hurricane business and global warming? Oh this link below says that this year could be the least active on record to.

Therefore, wouldn't it be prudent to accept the possibility that anthropogenic global warming is suspect?

Im in my office and there are windows going the whole way around I always look out into the open sky and I don't know why I think about something flying past other than birds or clouds... I dunno, im weird.

But just then I caught something out of my eye and it was black, I looked at it thinking it was a plane just catching the light for a split second but it didn't change colour it floated like a bunch of balloons that people sometimes let go. But it wasnt in that shape I thought it was one of those planes that have a banner hanging off the back, but No plane and it was just black nothing else, the I looked away to make sure I wasn't seeing things When I looked back it looked like it looked different it was raised in the middle sort of like a shell or beetle. I don't know what this was but Im pretty freaked out. I even thought it was a bird, but it was far away and it wouldn't have been that big. Im in east London so if anyone else saw this?

What could it be?

Isn't that the time when people should have been worried about green living, recycling, saving the planet. If we had worried about it then, we wouldn't be having the problems of today.

Unfortunately stuff that isn't indestructable isn't patentable and corporations don't see dollar signs in this concept? Is this the reason.

I'm leaving global warming out of this equation, cause there is too much hype surrounding it, and it is not clear as to whether man is causing it or not. While whatever we are doing is not helping it, the science just isn't clear cut to me as to whether we are the sole cause of it.

There's a study that asserts that the average bite of food has traveled nearly 1,500 miles before it reaches the lips of Americans. This means its practically marinated in crude oil, doesn't it?

Source is an essay by Bill McKibbon.

I understand the solid rocket boosters must output some CO2, and the large external tank holds hydrogen/oxygen mix to burn to get to orbital speeds(so they try to release as little CO2 as possible), but is it powered by it's own nuclear plant, or does it get all it's electricity from solargrids somewhere, or just off the local grids?

What got me to that idea was the energy it uses to cool down all that hydrogen/oxygen, where does it come from? and is it higher than the amount of CO2 that I use every year!?

So what is the fix? What is Al Gores idea to fix it? What is the Governments Idea to fix it?

Carbon offsets? Talking about it? Getting in a frenzy on yahoo over it?

I hear a lot of talk, but not much action. For me its just like everything else; be it Welfare, Social Security, Immigration, and the War. Talk Talk Talk and nothing. If they wanted to do something about it, Oil Usage would be done with tomorrow. But that ain't on the Menu...

Your thoughts?

It's the end of the world as we know it !
Each person in the world now needs a third more land to supply his or her needs !
30% of amphibians ; 23% of Mammals and 12% of birds are under threat of extinction !
One in ten of the worlds major rivers run dry every year before it reaches the sea !

Yesterday I sold my 4liter V6 Pickup, I planted two trees and are now part of a recycling ring in my community. It may not sound like much, but my three sons are now .00000000001% closer to a future on this planet.

What are you doing , or what are you planning to do to save the Planet ?

what pisses me off is there are soo many giant SUV's on the road and the people that own these SUV's are NOT doing their part in conserving and they are the reason why the cost of gas is too high, ITS NOT FAIR that I have to pay $3 a gallon when i drive a Honda Civic and I conserve and drive less!

I have a question about melting ice caps, recently i was doing research and i found some sites that have evidence the ice caps are actually growing. This would dissprove global warming right? But as i read on, some sites were trying to link global warming to GROWING ice caps. I think they would attribute anything to global warming just to make people believe. It's only a matter of time before they say global warming causes cancer. What does everyone else think?

I believe the theory of excellerated global warming to be true, but no one really explains why it is considered a negative. It may very well have many positive impacts that have not been discussed. The earth produces greenhouse gases naturally and has for billions of years. These gases are what keep our earth in the state it is in. There is an opposite to global warming that does not get the attention it deserves, which is the "snowball effect". Essentially if the greenhouse gasses were to thin out or dissipate that would allow the suns energy to bounce off the earth and back into space. The earth would not retain the energy/warmth and could potentially begin to get colder to a point where the whole earth is covered in ice, oceans and all. I think it is bit cavalier for the human race to think that they have any control of the brilliant dnyamics and redundancy of the planet we call home. It would be much more procuctive if individuals took responsibilty for their own actions.
