Because a vast majority of liberals tend to believe things that cause them emotion rather then logic. They believe science should be subjective.

They feel bad that man is 'probably most likely' the cause of global warming, and show them a cartoon polar bear swimming alone in the cartoon water makes them believe they must do something now or real polar bears could die.

Conservatives are likely to see science as being objective and don't believe people's opinions or thoughts. They know no one can predict the future, and this is what the believers are asking us to do. Conservatives desire to reduce pollution including green house gasses, but are prevented from building nuclear power plants by liberals. Liberals believe that is everyone uses just one square of toilet paper, the world would be saved.

Many smart and successful conservatives know it's real, and mostly caused by us:

"Former Republican House Speaker Newt Gingrich challenged fellow conservatives to stop resisting scientific evidence of global warming"

"Pat Robertson (very conservative Christian leader) 'It is getting hotter and the ice caps are melting and there is a build up of carbon dioxide in the air. We really need to do something on fossil fuels.”

Ford Motor Company CEO William Clay Ford, Jr. "I believe there is now more than enough evidence of climate change to warrant an immediate and comprehensive - but considered - response. Anyone who disagrees is, in my view, still in denial."

"The science of global warming is clear. We know enough to act now. We must act now."

James Rogers, CEO of Charlotte-based Duke Energy.

"Global warming is real, now, and it must be addressed."

Lee Scott, CEO, Wal-Mart Company

Yes, almost all of them, in fact.

A while back I did an informal survey on Y!A, asking whether or not people believed the anthropogenic global warming theory and some other info such as political affiliation, source of global warming information, education, etc.

Every single person who did not believe humans are the primary cuase of the current global warming were right-leaning to conservative. Those who believed humans are the primary cause ranged from moderate to one socialist, mainly liberals.

Basically most people who study the science will come to the conclusion that humans are the primary cause of the current warming. The people who view it as a poltiical issue and are conservatives might come to a different conclusion.

Conservatism tends to be the preserve of the older, richer folk who like life just the way it is and, being older, have less stake in the future. The other branch of conservatives seem to be uneducated Fox news or daily mail type who seem to have no opinion other than that supplied by thier conservative media. That' s the UK at least.

Isn't US consrvatism a 'three legged stool', are any of those legs going to be inclined towards scientific reality?

ahhh well actually they are not in fact the conservatives are those who secretly believe in the notion of global warming and its catastrophic consequences..its actually a well isolated portion of the scientific community by that i mean scientist who are in the "in" group who are skeptics and also some people who have access to some disturbing data that nullifies global warming are too!!

I don't think there is a strong corolation.

I'm fairly conservative, but I've been sceptical about global warming since I was in university and I was liberal then.

I don't know why you are asking, but I hope you are not one of these posters that thinks anyone who disagrees with you is mentally ill.
