I have a proposal. Both sides of the debate have our questions where we'd rather not get answers from the other side, we only skim read them anyway. Let's have an understanding that questions opened with 'Fellow greens/sceptics' are only answered respectively and anyone contravining this recieves large disapproval ratings.

I have seen this working in Religion and spirituality. It may open up room for more interesting debate on both sides, and even make some room for some humour.

I have this notion that believers will overwhelmingly say yes even though there is absolutely no proof supporting this statement. I believe that the way a believer was trained to think they would have to agree that we are not alone.

I do not believe that life exist elsewhere as there is no evidence that it does. Once I have objective information to show that life does indeed exist of other planets, I will agree that there is in fact life outside our own planet.

Which side do you fall on?

There is no evidence that levels of C02 affect the warming of the planet, the fact is that it changes constantly throughout the planets lifecycle. But humoring the gullable and the sheep out there that believe what ever the government tells them, the following will explain the major contributors of C02.

As said above the oceans are the greatest contributor, due to the trillions of algae/ plankton that produce 15 times of what all the human produce. Next is the decaying matter and dead animals that produce almost the same as the oceans. So thats 30 times more than what we produce.

The next is trees, many believe that trees suck up C02 and prodcue oxygen for life, but this is WRONG, growing trees do do this but mature trees actually stop this and produce more C02 than oxygen. Maybe we should cut down all mature trees to save the planet.

Next animals which includes us humans just releasing greenhouse gases produce way more than all the factories cars etc.

Also volcanoes, it is estimated that 1 eruption from a large volcane releases what we produce in 6 months. Of course there are other things that produce C02. So humans maybe produce about a hundreth of the planets C02 do you still think by turning your TV to standby or using energy saving lightbulbs makes any difference?

The fact is the theory of Global warming due to C02 outputs from humans is just a political policy that is used to TAX people, they employ their own scientists to give credit to there arguments, and select the only ones that agree with them to show to the public.

When will the world stop believing exactly what is told to them, without any evidence and make up their own minds. The government lies that is fact!

(I posted this question earlier, but thanks to Mr Jello I realized I linked to a sequence far down on the site. Since it's very important to read the story from the beginning I post this new question instead.)

The above link tells the history of the science of CO2 as a greenhouse gas and its contribution to global warming.

This is a must read for everyone that claims that

- Man made global warming is a conspiracy
- the computer models aren't reliable
- CO2 doesn't drive climate
- The theory is invented by Al Gore
- other silly arguments

Yes, it's a long read but if you can't take the time to read stories that debunk your arguments then you are just irresponsible deniers and your counter arguments don't deserve to be taken seriously.

Can anyone help me out? and I'm writing a research paper so I need enough of BOTH sides, so please don't comment about which side is better or try to convince me of anything. I just need help finding articles. I'm not good with search engines...

Postman could also check water, gas, and electric meters while on their routes. I would think these modifications would save a lot of fuel. For that matter, mail delivery could be slowed by two days and reduce the amount of mail that is transported by air. It could be sent by rail instead and rail uses much less fuel per pound.

See http://gregable.com/2007/09/apartment-solar-what-is.html

I want to buy a solar panel and some other device X that will let me smoothly power appliances from X. X will use power from the solar panel first, and then from the grid if there isn't enough. I don't want a battery system due to the costs, if there is too much power from solar, I'll just waste it in this system. What is X that I would need to buy or how would I build X?

Some background before I ask my question.

It was a long held view the earth was warmer than what it is today during a period known as the Medieval warm period (MWP).

There have been studies recently that downplay the MWP and say that 20th century is the warmest. This is a big bone of contention among skeptics who claim that a group of scientists manipulate science to promote an agenda.

In my opinion we can determine who is right by looking at the evidence and history. http://www.archaeology.org/online/features/greenland/
The site above says that settlements are being found in what is now permafrost. The Vikings only practised farming techniques. This suggests that the glaciers were further back, and a warmer climate.

As the weather became colder, the Vikings refused to adapt to the Inuit techniques of survival. They also changed the way they built their houses to cope with the cold.

it is clear that Global Warming Alarmists have a solid grasp of simple THEORETICAL algebra. But have these people ever taken a CALCULUS CLASS??????????

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that the surface area of the ocean will increase DRAMATICALLY as the sea level rises. I mean, it's not like we can build a wall to hold that water back. For every inch the sea rises, there may be areas where the sea moves inland several FEET. That could add millions of square miles to the surface of the ocean.

This simple observation completely blows away the calculation that the alarmists use to prove that the oceans can rise as much as 250 feet if all the ice melts. Anyone that has passed Calculus should be laughing out loud at these claims.

Well what do you think about this?

I have just finished it and I wanted to know what your thoughts are if you have read it. And if you have not then I would encourage you to...it's brilliant. I just have to warn you, if you are all for the threat of global warming as a legitimate accusation, then you might not like this book, but you should read it anyway......just remember to keep your mind open. Thanks.

Arctic sea ice may have started rebuilding after reaching a record low, according to the National Snow and Ice Data Center. Arctic ice now covers 1.61 million square miles, the agency said Thursday, up from 1.59 million Sept. 16, which appears to be the minimum. (Snip) The Northwest Passage between the Atlantic and Pacific oceans along the coasts of Canada and Alaska remains open but it starting to refreeze, the center said.
