I am looking to build energy efficient and eco friendly housing, with the goal of developing a community that can sustain itself in every way possible. from food to energy, water treatment. using underground/earth sheltered construction and combining any or all methods to achieve these goals.

I've seen this claim made as an attempt to refute global warming. There are good reasons to question global warming and this isn't one of them. The thinking behind it appears to be that is sea levels fall in Tasmania then they fall across the globe. Why would people think that? It's like saying "it's raining here today therefore it's raining everywhere".

The levels of the seas and oceans are not uniform, hence the locks in the Panama Canal even though it links two oceans together.

Can anybody find any evidence anywhere, anything at all, that even hints at the fact that sea levels are falling?

After years as a skeptic, John Howard changed his mind and started pouring money into batteleing climate change. When did he first admit climate change was real?

Ocean levels are more than one inch lower today than they were 165 years ago. If "global warming" was real and causing ice caps to melt, you would expect the oceans to be higher today.

Maybe global warming causes oceans to recede and to rise much like global warming causes the temperatures to increase and decrease.

What's your thoughts?

I'm going green in a lot of ways and one of them is saving water. So early in the mornings when its kinda dark I do a number 1 and and 2. Is this weird? I dug a deep hole and squat to do my #2. and when i need to do lots of #1's i do it in a bucket outside and pour it out in my dirt area. i think its great and i save water! yay!! but it gets kinda smelly, lol. giggles giggles

I was watching a show today that said if all the ice on Greenland alone melted, the entire ocean would rise 20 feet. And then they said if all the ice on both poles melted, the entire ocean would rise over 200 feet. Now I am good at math and science so I know that this is a boldface lie. Why do they do this when Global WArming is real?

hybrids are costly, and they use batteries.

new ultracapacitors can rapidly store charge...energy and release it....such systems could be a lot more efficient when compiled with a battery...one system in the news boasted a car with no use of fuel but the fast charging of an ultracapacitor.

If America REALLY wants to be free of all co2 emissions (which I don't think causes global warming btw)....and also not be dependent on oil..

Then what we would do is.....

build a huge nexus of nuclear reactors...that charge 'modules'. from all the cars with this system...which are basically ultracapacitors compiled with a battery.

When you need a charge up...(an ultracapacitor can be charged fairly fast). you go to a 'gas station' which has charged up modules, and which you replace. Battery gets you to places if you run out of charge in your ultracapacitor.

no need for fuel in cars....then gas is only used for heating and other things.

Alaska citizens get annual payments for the sale of State owned oil

California and others are trying to get Arizona to share more of its water. Should Arizona citizens be compensated and paid for sharing the water that flows through the State?

I think they should

We are in a drought, Carl Hayden guaranteed Arizona its water long ago, if we are going to share it - we should be compensated for it!

If there is a divergence between proxy and instrument temperature data, what conclusions am I to draw?

If the proxies are not accurate in the current decades (compared to instruments), then how can I be assured that the historical proxies are accurate?

If the instruments are not accurate in current decades (compared to proxies), then how can I be assured that instrumental data is accurate?

It appears that there is a lot of work being done to eliminate this divergence, but it appears to be mathematical in nature. Is anyone working on refining the experimental parameters in the determination of temperature via proxy analysis?

Isn't the chief problem for the environment, overpopulation? Won't most nations have to adopt controls at some point? A clear, calm perspective is appreciated as are links to data supporting your position.

Recently I've heard my co-workers talking about Global Warming. At first I was just nodding along with the conversation not really knowing what the deal was. So I decided to get informed. I read the wikipedia article and I was appalled! Ever since that day I've been running my airconditioner 24/7 with the windows open throughout the house trying to help with the problem. I just wish that there was more that I could do. What all are you guys doing to help and what are other ways that I can help? The earth is very important to me and I want it to be around for my kids, and my kid'd kids! Why isn't our government doing more?
