Bob gives a worthless graph that shows CO2 levels for a cherry picked time interval. Trevor gives numbers for supposed man made green house gases that some theorize has led to warming. Yet they never seem to provide a reasonable explanation for the cooling in the 60s and 1970s. Attached is a graph that explains the real reason for global warming. My training as a geologist has taught me that the world's climate, environments, and sea levels are not static and that they change constantly. For the last several thousand years we have been getting warmer with some minor ups and downs and this obviously had nothing to do with man.

Global warming has become a religion and those that believe in it are not going to be convinced by facts. They are convinced that it must be man's fault because man is a bad influence on the planet. That is why they are invariably leftists who think with their heart rather than their brain. If it was cooling, they would blame that on man and industry and in fact they did. The very same people blaming global warming on petroleum were blaming global cooling on petroleum. That demonstrates an agenda rather than an attempt to learn facts IMO

Volcanoes 4. the quantity of water vapor interior the air (co2 makes up under .01% of the atmoshere via the way) 5. The relation of the Earth to the sunlight and the lean of the axis. that's the reason of warming and cooling no longer the SUV down the line. If care emmisions have been so risky then timber all alongside the highways could be lifeless. The ozone hollow exchange into there earlier hairspray and remains there on the instant via the way..

You can't have 5 causes of something that hasn't been proven to exist. The so-called "science" supporting global warming is tainted, as is the so-called "science" stating global warming doesn't exist. Pro-environmentalist groups are funding research supporting global warming, and industrialists are funding research to debunk global warming. Basically, the result you want is available if you're willing to pay the right scientist the right price. So do us all a favor and stop pushing global warming as fact when it's very possible that it could be fiction.

By far the biggest factor are the greenhouse gases. In terms of volume most are naturally occurring, it's because of GHG's that the planet is at a habitable temperature, without them the average temp on the planet would be -18°C (similar to the North Pole).

The sun has almost exclusive rights as being the source of heat which becomes trapped by the greenhouse gases. All the direct heating humans have ever caused through fires, heaters etc amounts to almost nothing compared to the sun.

The primary causes of anthropogenic global warming (the manmade part) are...

Power generation - 25%
Deforestation - 18%
Transportation (all kinds) - 14%
Induistrial processes and manufacturing - 10%
Direct fuel combustion (burning coal, wood etc) - 8%

I respect your position as a geologist and that you are an intelligent person whose line of work encroaches into the field of climatology. However, I am a climatologist and as such have some knowledge of geology, but I don't profess to know more about geology than people like yourself. Would you accept that it's fair to say a climatologist would know more about climate and a geologist would know more about geology?

Nobody disputes that there are natural cycles which determine our climate. I find it interesting that you refute the theory of anthropogenic global warming by referencing Milankovitch's cycles. The shortest such cycle relates to the gyroscopic or precessional rotation of the earth and is one that lasts for 19,000 years.

Our position within the precessional and other cycles is such that the interaction leads to a very small positive forcing, hence the 1°C increased trend in temps for the 10,000 years preceding the Induistrial Revolution. You could argue that this is the basal natural rate of global warming, in which case how would you explain the current rise in temps, being as they are, 177 times as fast.

The theory of man-made global warming is false. Anyone who believes otherwise has not investigated the evidence or is purposely remaining ignorant to the legitimate opposition to global warming. CO2 is not causing the globe to warm the opposite is true, the warming is increasing the atmospheric CO2. When the world heats it gradually increases the temperature of the oceans which serve as the largest CO2 sink. As the oceans heat up they release CO2 which is stored in them. The information comes from the same data Al Gore uses, the temperature always goes up before the concentration of CO2 goes up.

CO2 makes up only .03% of our atmosphere. Water vapor, another greenhouse gas, makes up 1-4% of our atmosphere, this gas is acknowledged to be the main greenhouse gas. All human activities combined contribute only 6 Gigatons of CO2 to the atmosphere each year. Animals, through respiration, decomposition, etc contribute 150 Gigatons of CO2 to the atmosphere. So humans contribute only a small amount of CO2 to the atmosphere which is already in very small concentrations in the atmosphere.

So Al Gore is using the same data but coming to a different conclusion, who do you want to believe a politician with no scientific training or the NASA CO2 laboratory, a group of scientists who spend their entire careers studying CO2.

We know the greenhouse effect is real it is a necessary effect to keep our planet at a habitable temperature. However if our current warming is due to greenhouse gasses it would cause warming in the troposphere , but the troposphere is actually getting cooler.

The fact that only the earth’s surface is warming points to direct heating from the sun rather than heating due to greenhouse gasses. Also other planets in our solar system are warming pointing to a common cause of warming, that common cause being the sun.

The thought that the only scientists who disagree with global warming are paid by oil companies is simply a stupid statement with no reality. This is the most illogical argument by people in support of global warming. Aside from being completely false it begs another question: Who pays global warming supporters? The answer is big environmental agencies that make millions off of global warming each year by teaching, publishing books, and selling environmentally clean products.

The IPCC is the main supporter of global warming, their statements are defended blindly by people who don’t want to admit that global warming is not real. People will claim that they took into account natural sources of CO2, they didn’t. Take a look for yourself:

There's only one cause, and it's us. The waste products of industrial processes across the board, from wood burning to nuclear, and deforestation. Anyone who tells you different isn't telling you straight. There are people trying to turn it into a debate, just as they are with evolution, family planning and some other things. There are propaganda movies on both sides of the "debate", that are best ignored.

All I can say of the people who will tell you the heat comes from the sun is, "Correct, but I think you stole the idea from Copernicus. Here we all thought it came from the Moon."
