Basically all the solutions revolve around the production of greenhouse gases. We must reduce our production of greenhouse gases until the amount of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere drops down to a level where the effects of global warming is reduced.
On an individual level -
1. Reduce the amount of electricity you consume if possible. That would be changing out incandescent light bulbs for compact fluorescent light bulbs. Turning off lights and appliances when not in use. Use natural lighting in the daytime instead of electric lights in the daytime. Using energy efficient appliances. "Going green", etc.
2. Don't use any product that releases CFC gases into the atmosphere. This would include aerosol sprays that use CFCs and old refrigerators and air conditioners that use CFCs. CFCs are greenhouse gases that are about 10,000 times worse than CO2 gases and they destroy the ozone layer in the atmosphere.
3. Trade in your car for a hybrid car as soon as possible. Then join a group that advocates legislation that will make all cars and trucks hybrid designs. This will shut off production of millions of tons of greenhouse gases produced by idling cars and trucks in traffic jams every day across the country.
4. Write letters to your congresspersons urging them to put out wildfires instead of letting them burn because wildfires produce 30% of greenhouse gases. If wildfires can be prevented, a whopping 30% of greenhouse gases can be shut off and really help lessen the effects of global warming. Government should legislate more fire fighting and create more firebreaks and more brush clearing to stop this source of greenhouse gases. And then people won't have to cry about giving up their life styles to fight global warming.

This is addressed in the movie An Inconvenient Truth. That Al Gore movie. If you're wanting to know more about Global Warming you should check out that movie. But things they say that will help lessen the effects I guess is stuff like not using as much A/C and using environmentally friendly utilities..like energy efficient stuff. Recycling, not using your car much, efficient light bulbs..

1. Replace all incandescent light bulbs with compact fluorescent light bulbs
2. Adjust your thermostat:
When you're home in the summer - 73 to 75
When you're not home in the summer - at least 76
When you're home or not in the fall - 68 to 72
When you're home in the winter - 64 to 67
When you're not home in the winter - at most 63
When you're home or not in the spring - 68 to 72
3. Turn off and unplug any electronic devices that are not in use
4. Replace old household appliances (light bulbs, refrigerators, washers, driers, TVs, etc) with new Energy Star ones
5. Recycle anything with the recycling label on it (plastic, steel, aluminum, glass, paper, cardboard, etc) -- you may be surprised to see what objects can be recycled
6. Don't buy paper cups or plates unless you're going to re-use them
7. Wash dishes, glass, and utensils in the sink rather than in the dishwasher
8. Don't fly to destinations that are less than 500 miles long
9. Consider buying a hybrid or a vehicle that gets an average MPG (miles per gallon) of at least 30
10. Consider buying vehicles with manual transmission -- most vehicles with manual transmission get more mileage than cars with automatic and cost less
11. Consider buying a vehicle with 2-wheel or front-wheel-drive instead of four-wheel or all-wheel-drive -- these vehicles get better gas mileage and cost less
12. Rarely use the AC in your vehicle unless there is an emergancy -- you can save an extra mile or two on gas (this makes a big difference to the environment)
13. Eat less meat -- cows emit methane (a greenhouse gas), so avoid buying meat
14. Use an electric lawn mower instead of a gas one -- electric mowers emit less greenhouse gases than gas mowers and are less expensive
15. Manually cut/trim hedges, bushes, etc
16. Take shorter showers using cooler water
17. Always wash cloths in cold water -- cold water washes just as good as warm water
18. Hang your clothes outside to dry on warm/hot sunny days -- the drier uses more energy than a clothes washer, refrigerator, or dishwasher
19. Flush the toilet less often -- you can save 1.6 gallons of water from being wasted each time you don't flush (just spray the bathroom with a scent)
20. Drink tap water instead of bottled water -- bottled water is transported in trucks (big polluters) to stores over long distances
21. Rarely order products -- packages are transported in trucks (big polluters) over long distances

Nothing. Mankind has no effect on global warming, if it did then it could fix it. Although global warming is just a myth. It's just going through it's natural cycle. In a few years, everyone will be complaining about global freezing.

a much bigger environmental situation with dairy farming is the nitrate run-off from heavily fertilised paddocks. This gets into the waterways, and the algae and grows like topsy and chokes out each and every thing else.

I read an article that says elk flatulence adds to global warming. You could hike to Alaska and hunt some elk.
