I have a proposal. Both sides of the debate have our questions where we'd rather not get answers from the other side, we only skim read them anyway. Let's have an understanding that questions opened with 'Fellow greens/sceptics' are only answered respectively and anyone contravining this recieves large disapproval ratings.

I have seen this working in Religion and spirituality. It may open up room for more interesting debate on both sides, and even make some room for some humour.

Mr Jello,

Sir, I follow no dogma, global warming is only part of the wider issue for me.

The nomoclature may be changed from 'greens' to ?

One should give up on the spelling and grammar round here, it would take too long. This side of the pond we spell it 'sceptic', and that should be 'your spelling of skeptics was wrong'

I don't have the answer...

libbft and trevor, I'm suggesting some people who are familiar with both arguments may appreciate a higher proportion of answers they'll find useful.

And some answerers may appreciate knowing when thier time would be wasted as the questioner is content with thier stance on an issue and is most unlikely to be swayed to the contrary.

This would need a level of healthy respect from both sides. It does not have to spoil the 'fun' it would be down to the questioner, who is supposedly seeking knowledge (this question excluded of course!).

I have no idea but Gerard has talked bout Green Day, he didn't want The Ghost Of You to be too much like Wake Me Up When September Ends & Billie did say he was ok with it. They say they like each other but maybe in that pic of all of them they didn't know each other well which is why Billie, Tre & Mike look awkward. They may not be best friends but they're not enemies either.

Maybe there should be three categories under Environment / Global Warming:

Skeptics, those that don't believe.

Believers, those that do believe and

Free For All, what we have right now.

Why do you label the two sides Greens and Skeptics? Do you not believe a person can be an environmentalist without believing the dogma of the global warming believers?

Frankly sir, I am offended!

Added: Yes, "global warming" is a dogma, as it is an opinion. Instead of greens, a better phrase would be "believers", and skeptic is spelled wrong.

That comes across as being a closed minded approach. It's also a good way to ensure that individuals never learn anything other than the one side of the argument they concur with.

If someone doesn't like a question they are not compelled to answer it.

This is a novel idea. It appears doubtful, given the general rowdiness of commentary throughout Yahoo! Answers, that your proposal will be widely embraced.

I don't know.

But i wouldn't post it on P&S or all you'll get is haters. I love P&S but some of them don't believe global warming exists.
