Man is too insignificant to have any effect on this Earth.

Good question. Most scientists now think that global warming is caused by human activities, which have resulted in an increase in Earth's natural greenhouse effect. The greenhouse effect is the way that certain gases in the air - notably CO2 - trap some of the warmth, like the pane of glass in greenhouse. The greenhouse effect keeps the Earth plesantly warm - but if it increases, the Earth may become hot.

We are a big contibutor on the problem because humans boost the greenhouse effect by burning fossil fuels, such as coal and oil, that produce carbon dioxide.

Global warming indeed is bringing stormier weather by trapping more energy inside the atmosphere. It does now start to melt much of the polar ice caps, flooding low lying countries.

Many experts expect a 4 degrees C rise in average temperatures over the nest 100 years. Really, if humans will continue doing its part because of Industrial Development at the expense of the Mother Nature i believe the next generations will at their mercy. I hope a collective effort should be done but it seems all countries seems to neglect the huge problem it will cause in the near future. Much have been said but the true actions are not proportionate to the besetting problem.

Hope people must be awaken before it is too late.

If you were to place all the open cut mines on the face of the earth together, they wouldn't even be a pimple, as seen from orbit. Standing next to it, it would be a great big hole in the ground.
It's a matter of perspective, What we see big, the earth see's as insignificant.
We can do damage on a local scale, the question is, can we do it on a global scale, and how will the ecology react?
Right now, we truly don't know.

There's no doubt of that. We almost destroyed the entire planet during the cold war. I think of that every time I see someone smugly post "Man is too insignificant to have any effect on this Earth." At the peak of the nuclear arms race it was estimated that there were enough nuclear and thermonuclear devices to end life on earth 10,000 times over. Yet in one short generation we can have no effect on the earth at all? There is no doubt the nukes were real. Ask the people who helped dispose of them. So how could the other statement be real? I guess people reason differently today.

No i think every one just ignores it and thinks its never going to happen but what peolpe dont realise is that the world can only cope with so much and something has to happen to restore its natural balance and that will either be a big bang or global warming or a meteor or something!!! I do my but i turn to 30 with the washing and turn off all standby plugs.
