Are you just stupid and want to pay for more gas?

Why do you believe the two conditions are mutually exclusive?

Why do you think that if a person doesn't believe in man made global warming, they want everyone to drive suv's?

People need to make a choice to drive the car that provides them what they need in an automobile.

The primary reason is that the trade offs are just too great. Cars with higher gas milage are generally smaller, lighter and have poorer performance. They also suffer more damage in an accident and provide less protection to their occupants.

It has been shown time and time again that consumers prefer the larger, more powerful cars and if given the choice this is what they will buy. Car companies are not in business to satisfy your agenda, they are in business to provide the type of cars that the majority of the buying public want.

It really doesn't make sense, does it? People like their massive SUVs for some reason. Maybe it makes them feel like big men, or safer on the road even though SUVs have the tendency to roll over and catch fire. A couple of days ago I saw an accident between an SUV and a sedan. The sedan was dented but fine. The SUV was upside down. Guess who got the worst of that accident?

There are many benefits to developing more fuel efficient cars besides combatting global warming. It saves money on fuel, results in cleaner air (greenhouse gases aren't the only biproducts of burning gas), and reduces our dependency on a limited resource which is mainly concentrated in unstable political regions.

well i dont believe in the b/s man made global warming but i would like to see cars with higher gas mileage. That would be the best thing so we are not so dependent on foreign oil

Apparently a lot of people are that stupid. But the real barrier is the oil companies. They are literally spending millions lobbying and making campaign contributions to try tokeep Congress from passing legislation to require improved gas mileage.

You'll see claims that it would "hurt the auto companies." That's BS. Such a law would simply require the auto companies to implement technology they already ave. And it would apply to al cars soldin the US--so they wouldnt't be at adisadvantage relative to imports.

People who are to stupid to drive safely want SUV's so when their incompetence behind the wheel causes an accident, YOU are the one that gets killed. THEY will survive because their big TANK of a vehicle will protect them
I guess that also explains why they are too stupid to see the value in opting to drive more fuel efficient vehicles. Just lack of brains all around!
Watch out for SUV's they are ALWAYS the WORST drivers on the road!

People have always wanted more efficient cars. What they don't want is someone passing a law that forces them to do it.

Here's an example. Let's say you are not at your ideal weight.

Do you want the government to force you to lose or gain "X" pounds or risk going to jail?

Put your friend in jail for giving you a twinkie?

Tell you that you can't go outside until you lose the extra pounds?

The cost of ownership of a fuel efficient vehicle has to be less than the cost of ownership of an equivalent inefficient vehicle before there will be incentive to switch.

The fuel savings currently doesn't exceed the price difference.

They really want them to be developed.
They want the rest of the world to drive them and then they can drive their own SUVs.
Of course, I am talking about the USA not so true in all of the other countries, and also not totally true for everyone in the USA either.

This is my help from Washington, D.C. USA.
