I have read that since there has been more talk of increasing the fuel mileage mandated by the government, that the oil companies have decided to limit the refining process of oil. This will limit the amount of fuel produced, and keep the price higher. Do you think we will see effective alternative fuels produced, and marketed well enough to put the squeeze on big oil?

If indeed we are going to run out of oil supply and we still need cars to go from A to B, we need an alternative and we are told there will not be any air pollution from cars running on hydrogen!

I live in California and there is worry of a water shortage and we are being asked to be conservative on water consumption. Therefore, is it better for the water shortage and the environment to drink bottled water (to save on CA consumption) and recycle the bottles afterward or is it better to drink from the tap (and not conserve as much water) and bypass the need to even recycle all those bottles? My boyfriend and I argue about this all the time!

He made it up obviously becasue he would be trying to stop what people are casuing if it were real. I guess AL invented 2 things. the internet and global warming.

Seems to me that everyone answering on here has something dumb to say...like its a "liberal" ideal...that somehow the scientists that have made the statements are liberal and that is the only explanation for global warming.

Could it be that the CO2 emmissions from our vehicles...no, our way of life is having an affect? Is it possible that the pollution that we are dumping into the environment could have NO affect???

Come on America...stop making this a right or left issue...this is about our kids futures. or maybe its just me!?!?!?!

Don't get me wrong - I'm as much a hippy (& happy to admit it) as anyone else who uses a mobile phone & computer, but I really think that we've left it too late.
Posit: America, Russia, China have done their damage, and we're all stuffed, no matter what we do?
I think that all these local Council recycling schemes & G8 conferences, etc. are just a government's way of paying lip-service. It is now a case of Too Little, Too Late.
For example, we ALL know that cars only contribute a small proportion of the UK's 'carbon footprint', yet loads of us seem to think extra car/fuel/road/congestion tax is FINE. We all eagerly recycle our plastic bottles, but how many new plastic products are we buying each day? How many plastic things in your home? In front of me now: Dell VDU, mobile phone, keyboard, DVD & CD cases & disks, 2 laptop PCs from work & 2 cycle helmets! Plus the plastic trays from dinner in the bin because I had to work late & did not have time to properly cook for me & my son!

hi, i was wondering, if global warming is real (and not like that glabal cooling that turned put to be rubbish) and the polar ice caps are melting why dont we just send a missle carrying liquid nitrogen (or some other fast freezing componant) into them?

and another thing - whats so wrong with gm food, say for instance that you madesuper size tomatos that had all the nutriants you needed and they could be growen anywhere, then surely that would stop starvation n the 3rd world right?

i know iv vent on a bit but i am bored

In independent living how is it? Is it like a group home where everyone is together or is it like you live in your own individual house on the programs property. What is it like? Because i'm about to be sent there and i don't want to be around a whole bunch of females under one roof its nerve racking to me. So i mean is there any helpful hints or websites i can check out that will tell me about this program and how it is?

Having established that the anthropogenic signal swamped out the natural signal in about 1960, lets move on to the next question that I have.

The signal post 1960 is considered to be anthropogenic, am I to take it that this means strictly CO2 produced by human activities? Or, is anthropogenic to be used in a broader sense that includes farming, ranching, urban growth, deforestation, etc?

The bill states that in the future cars in the US must have at least 35 miles to the gallon. It is a wonderful idea, it will encourage car companies to develope more fuel effiecient cars.
