The Florida Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) has web pages on water quality standards, water policy, and much more. (See web page below.)

Water regulations involve at least 2 major federal laws (the Clean Water Act and the Safe Drinking Water Act) as well as state regulations implementing them. It can be a little complicated, so if I haven't helped answer your question, please email me.

In most localities water regulations are part of municipal codes, county codes and/or State Law. There probably is a Florida Department of Environmental Management, or Division of Natural Resources. I would start at an agency like that for direction and information. You could search the Web for laws in Florida, but that could take you a long long time to find the right info. Cooperative Extension services in most states also have that information or could direct you to the best place to get answers. Not knowing what you need to know about which kind of water, the Coast Guard is also a good resource. Good luck.

Check to see if Florida has a water quality board, if they don't look under the state department of fish and wildlife management (these are the governing bodies that regulate water in one way or another)

Water rights are administered by state governments. The best way would be to go online and search a state's official website. If you don't get the exact info. you want you will find phone numbers to offices that will help you.
