Hazard pay is justified by market forces. If those in the labor force recognize the danger involved in an occupation, they will expect a higher pay rate for assuming the risk. Employers also want to employ competent people in hazardous work to minimize their liability and so it's cost-effective for them to pay hazard pay to attract the best and most qualified workers.

Any job that puts extra risk factors is a candidate for hazardous pay - those you mention are an example as are oil workers, fire-persons, and military personnel. The bump in pay is to make the job more attractive since the risk could ultimately cost you your life.

Whatever it says in your contract. If you don't have a contract that includes hazard pay you aren't gonna get any.
