I believe that since a single volcano emits more greenhouse gases in one month than every factory, car, and human does in 50 years, that we should just destroy all of the volcanoes.

What's your solution?

And then the Earth becomes increasingly colder? In the last 50 years since man is believed to have been responsible for causing global warming, the population of the Earth has swelled, at least partly due to the improving warming conditions of the planet-
So what if an artic tern becomes extinct in the next 50 years, mankind is doing better than ever.
Isn't it a strange idea to try and make our planet colder? Arguablye can tolerate a slight rise in the Earths temperature better than we can a drop in temperature.

I know the streets are full of water and floating objects but what can be done to reduce the water level? Do people just wait? What happens to all that water? Does a catchment area need to be built to collect this floodwater? How long will it take for the water to go away? Especially in the context of the Jakarta floods. It's really terrible to have natural disasters destroy a city.
Serious answers only please.
Thanks very much.

I done my own experiment at home with a glass of water. I placed a handful of ice cube's into a pint pot half full of water, and marked the level. When all the ice had melted, the level was the same?

As nowaday we use a lot of petroleum products : gas, gasoline, naphtha, oil, wax, etc, they might be used up somedays. What's your next plan?

So far I:

- Recycle all glass bottles and jars
- Recycle all paper from home (and work!)
- Recycle Plastic bottles
- Take clothes to charity shop rather than chuck in landfill.

I am keen to both save money and resources by looking at alternative fuels, but I live in a tiny terraced house with a small garden so a wind-based generator and solar panels may be out of the question! Can I also make my car more environmentally friendly, as it is a petrol gulping 1990 ford escort!

Thanks

can people please turn their thermostats down by 1 degree or more? it might sound crazy, but it isnt. 1 degree of central heating pollutes the atmosphere by 1/3 of a ton each year! you're probably not going to notice 1 degree of central heating anyway. You might think that this will only work if the whole world does it, but if nobody does it because of that reason, we're worse of than if 1 person does it, and who'll notice 1 degree? Dont say you wont do it because you'll be dead by then, because if no-one does this, global warming could happen in 30 years time, and even if you do die in 30 years time, you wouldnt want your children to die. The effects of global warming is melting of the polar ice-caps, which will melt, and sea level will rise by 66m. whoever's house is smaller than 66m will drown. the UK will have arctic winters. thats around -90° F. Our eyes freeze at -80°. Dont think that central heating wont make a difference, and we should be worrying about airplanes instead,

Al Gore and Richard Branson have launched an competition to see who can come up with the best way of removing green house gases from the atmosphere in an attempt to reverse global warming. This contest is open to mainly the science community and will reward $25 million to the winner. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/science/nature/6345557.stm
What ways can you come up with (Scientific or otherwise) that might do the job?

Considering how much plastic and silicones that Anna Nicole Smith had in her body, do you think her body should be disposed as chemical waste?

'Richard Branson is offering to award a $25-million prize to the individual or group able to demonstrate a commercially viable design resulting in the net removal of anthropogenic, atmospheric greenhouse gases each year for at least 10 years, without harmful side-effects.'

I think this is a fantastic idea!

Do you think this will give new life to our planet's efforts to improve the environment?

Concentrating on an environmental problem of your own choice,[global warming] explain how that problem maybe solved by means of law and regulation and the policy upon which that law and regulation is based and how a balance maybe struck between the aims of economic growth and human development and the protection of environment in which we live.[uk]

Now how we gonna get the aliens to come spend their tourism dollar on this hot a$$ planet? Think about it. You're flying around looking for a cool spot to hang out at. Theres earth. Naw, its too hot now. Besides, last time when Yernie went to that place roswell they sucked him dry.
Wake up people. Were losing money here. The alien dollar is a huge market. They dont like hot places. They do like polar bears.
Lets all band together cool this place down and get some polar bears back. Then the aliens will come. Then we will find riches in the exploitation of aliens.

We have already lost a lot of animals and plants since man stepped on earth. But I think that it is our duty to conserve our present wildlife so that it wouldn't become extinct. If we are to deplete our natural flora and fauna in this rate,I think that the people of next generations must view them in pictures.
