Joining the international debate, I would like to convey that release of water from polar ice caps would lead to heavier concentration of water in the equatorial regions (due to the centrifugal force of earth's rotation), which in turn would mean heavier mass of water in the region. This will gradually cause an increase in plate realignment, aggravating reasons for continental shifts, thereby creating more space for water (specially if mountain peaks get affected again). Claims of rise of sea-level, would lead one to assume that earths surface has stabilised, which is a false premise. (Do I stand to get a nobel prize for clearing millions of affected brains from unwanted enquiries, saving tons of investments in liquid cash by governments worldwide? Or can I expect atleast some ice-creams or beer or money or t-shirts or CDs of Free Software? Send them to me at ck.thrissur@gmail.com)

If we are serious about seeking out alternative energy sources, why is this technology more readily available to us? If the companies that build these cells need a tax incentive from the state, what's a few extra bucks worth of taxes to make this happen?

It was around 1983. A radiation therapy machine was taken from the US to Mexico. It was recycled into scrap metal, but it had cobalt-60 in it. The contaminated metal was then made into rebar and shipped back to the US, Canada, and all over Mexico. Does anyone else have any more info, pics, video, or audio about it? I need it for a documentary presentation.

i live in chicago and once in a while we get a tornado but not that often. Tornados form because of an arctic chill that comes from the north pole, and from the warm air that comes from the golf of mexico and the carribeans, when they merge they cause extreme weather including tornados and severe thunderstorms. But I was always wondering, you know that the north pole is melting, would the tornado ally move up from the area of texas, oklahoma, kansas to the area of Iowa illinois wisconson, the reason would be because the arctic chill is not as strong and the merging would occur more inland???

Darwin suggested that when a species is experienceing environmental pressure, such as humans are now, it could be an opportunity for them to adapt or to evolve. Considering that 97% of our genome lays dormant, seemingly awaiting to be enacted, perhaps we are attempting to rise to our next evolutionary step but are not recognizing it. On top of this, when one realizes that 90% of our brain is not used, one would be short sited to think that our next step is not a leap in conciousness. Considering that change is not always comfortable, or easily accepted, we should consider that this leap in conciousness would not nesesarily appear comfortable. If one adds in spiritual diciplines, which is easy to do when we consider the full use of our brain power, and considering that the change in conciousness will not be a comfortable one, for me all the evidence points to non-normal states of conciousness, or Christ concousness for those who prefer a spiritual connection. Acceptance is the key.

The deminishing of the worlds rainforest is contributing to global warming, and it is becoming increasingly obvious that the world will not stop it's output of greenhouse gasses quickly enough to make the difference that is needed. As many of us know, photosynthesis takes CO2 out of the atmosphere, and creates oxygen in return. It also creates energy during this process. If scientists can find a way to artificially re-produce the process of photosynthesis on a very large scale, then it may be possible to "scrub" the atmosphere of excess CO2. If these CO2 "scrubbing" machines could be produced, would it also be possible to power these machines from the energy created during the process? If these machines became succesful, it could also be a possible solution to generating oxygen for long distance space flights by converting the CO2 that is expelled by humans.
