Nancy Pelosi is too wrapped up in demanding from the military
a luxury 747 for her personal use.
In the meantime, every minute 2 African children die of malaria.
Resurrection of the manufacture of DDT would eliminate malaria.
In the 1950's and 1960's malaria was virtually wiped out in the USA.
It was done by draining vast wetland areas and extensive use of DDT.
The Democrats have initiated "FEEL GOOD" season on this country.
Ineffective on the solution of problems but makes starry-eyed, fuzzy-thinking young people think that they are saving the world in a manner similar to those who blame mankind for Global Warming.
In the interim, 1,000,000-2,000,000 African children die each year due to these feel-good efforts.
Shame on all of us.

Because the "Junk Scientists" and self anointed "saviors of the planet" have decided it's not safe. This isn't based on any scientific fact, but by a court of law. They based it on Rachel Carson's laughable book "Silent Spring" which was the beginning of the modern radical environmental movement. It used junk science with preposterous conclusions based on nothing but supposition. It claimed that DDT caused birds egg shells like the Condor and Falcon to become thin and brittle. This was absolutely bogus (it actually occurred because of diet and other factors) but never let scientific facts get in the way of an emotionally based court ruling. It is estimated that 30 million Africans have died of malaria because DDT was taken away as a means of controlling mosquito's. 30 MILLION deaths that are on the hands of the now deceased Rachel Carson and the modern radical environmental movement. Hitler, Mao Tse Tung and Josef Stalin combined only accounted for about 24 million. Thanks Rachel.

DDT has been shown to be a problem because:
1. DDT accumulates in the food chain by the process of biological magnification.
2. DDT causes bird egg shells to be thin and brittle so the eggs break before the young can develop.
3. DDT has been banned in the United States.

Because it created problems in the environment, specifically it affected the density of eggs with certain birds, condors being the most familar, and the eggs were to thin to support the embryo and the egg never hatched. There were supposedly other effects also.
Refer to the book "Silent Spring" by Rachel Carson for more details. This book initiated environmental awareness and DDT was the first official villian of the environmental activitists.
It has since been determined that DDT is not as lethal to the environment as initially thought in the first wave of hysteria and it is the most EFFECTIVE of mosquito control. Which is especially important in portions of the world afflicted by malaria.

The USA *does* manufacture and export DDT, it just doesn't allow it to be used internally.

I believe the USA does manufacture and export DDT. They just don't allow it to be used in their country, preferring instead (as with many things they do) to allow the harmful substance to be sold to developing nations that request harmful pesticides.

Are you asking why the US doesn't use DDT? Because it's horrible for the environment and kills animals.
