What is the byproduct given off when we burn ethanol?

There is this lady on Yahoo Answers that is against using ethenol as an alternative fuel because she says producing a maximum yield of corn, without allowing the fields to go fallow, will ruin the soil for other crops. Corn is naturally hard on soil as it is, so constant production of corn in one place will drain all of the naturally occurring nutrients in the soil. How true is this?

After all, 95% of Congress people in 1999 were 99% certian that Iraq had WMD's.

Shouldn't we wait until we're more certian that man has any effect on the climate before we force people to pay more for ideas that won't work?

before those people who are too wrapped up in their own lives, will notice enough to do a single thing to stop it?
I feel like far too many people have the attitude 'well I can't do anything about it',but it was this collective way of thinking that caused it,so only a collective way of thinking can save us from it.

One of the scare stories that always crops up when nuclear power is being suggested is that of storing and disposing of nuclear waste.
However we do know how to process and store it safely for the 2000 years or so that is required.Isn't this therefore yet another bogus argument.
If we don't go the nuclear route and if human activity is to blame for global warming we are truly doomed.

Do you think that we will be able to help save our world from the environmental changes which are currently headlining the news? Or are we too selfish and too used to our way of living to alter our lives now?

I personally don't think that we will be able to save the planet, we may be able to slow down the whole process but I think the damage has been done.

I want to know what other people think!

OR atleast raising suspicions of the validity of creationism and organized religions (judiasm, christianity and islam)! what are the best arguments/evidence/logic available to achieve this?
eg. that the bible states that "man" had only existed for something like 6,000 years. or the splitting of the moon by the wish of the prophet in islam. sometimes it best to argue with them by debunking (logically) these myths and fairytales.

thanks guys.
