A bad person can do more bad, and a good person can do more good.
What it means is more power, not just electric power but the ability to do more.
The bad, as well as the good, is what man does with the science, not the science itself.
So, I can quickly warn a thousand people that there is an earthquake coming their way. But with the same knowledge, someone else could spam them.
You could save someone's life by shooting at a tiger to scare it away, or shoot a tiger for sport and make it endangered.
The problem is that power is coming at a time when morals are decreasing. People don't care about others, they are hypocrites and short sighted. But it's the people, not the science.

Most of your day to day products that you use today have a wartime birth, so despite wars being really awful, they are good for science and invention.
There is a old comment that sums up your question. You cannot teach a man to read the bible without also giving him the power to read alternative (and perhaps less highbrow) texts.
Basically every innovation is a double edge sword, and once the genie is out of the bottle you cannot put it back in.

Science is the passion of the human mind to attain fulfillment. Man will create and create what he can to reach the level of creativity of God. But can he ever reach? No. So the race will go on till the time comes when he creates such a gadget that will obliterate all his past attempts and creations. Do not worry. The world will still go on. God is there watching.

*Helping us.
**If someone doesn't like the new technologies they have all the right in the world to not use it and live like the 'Quakers'.
**"Global warming" ....yeah, what a bummer!!!
***I'd rather enjoy the time I have with my laptops, ipod and drive my SUV than live in the 'stone age' (in a cave with coconut shell bra!). :-)
