I'm curious to know what people have done to try to prevent taking away animal habitats from housing?
Like when people destroy green spaces to create houses, they can take away natural environment and homes for animals. How have people tried to prevent this? Like making housing differently?

I"m afraid that my state of Pensylvania may never have snow again because of this global warming unless we're really lucky. We haven't had a white Christmas for a couple of years now. Temperatures have been so warm lately. Temperatures today got up to 55. Is this just because of El Nino or something, because I'm getting scared here.

According to scientists, if we don't reduce our CO2 emissions by at least 25% within the next ten years, the effects of global warming will be irreversible. Personally, I think ten years is somewhat optimistic.

Can we possibly achieve this? Let's not forget, this is a 25% reduction on what we use now, and doesn't take into account the fact that in ten years' time the world's population will be a lot closer to the 7 billion mark.

Will we have to build a huge spaceship and spend generations in space looking for a new homeworld? And what will become of the Earth? Whether we die or not, does anyone think another species will ever be able to live here again in several thousand/million years' time?

Already the UK is facing an arctic snap of up to -12 celcius, a forerunner of possible the ice age that could hit us in as little as ten years' time (due to the re-routing of the oceanic conveyor belt due to Alaska melting).

What are your collective thoughts?

I sure think so... it's probable enough to me... Back a few years ago, the snow came in November, now we'll have to wait till February.

The cycles of the Earth's weather are becoming too chaotic... if they continue, I see no reason for the Earth not to collapse in another six years...

Well, anyways. What's your opinion? Why do YOU think the world will end at whatever time? I'm just asking...

It seems to me that this technology, escpecially when compared to electric powered automobile technology (www.teslamotors.com), is a fairly far-fetched technology to actually implement. Why then, is there such a political push for this solution rather than pursuing an electric solution?

Is Global Warming real? Probably. Are the ice caps melting? Absolutely. Is it caused by Greenhouse Gas emmisions? Probably not. What is the biggest contributor to current global weather patterns? CITIES. It is not the burning of fossil fuels, but the very existance of humanity that is causing the weather changes. What can we do about it? The answer should be "Do we really NEED to do anything about it?" What do you think?
