Because sunlight is too bright.

"Brown" is just dark orange with a low intensity of light. Orange is in the rainbow, but it's too bright to appear brown.

The rainbow is generated by water splitting light from the sun and causing the colours shown. As brown is a combination of all the colours of the rainbow if one was painting it doesn't feature in the rainbow.

Light it self when we see object in colour we actually see the colours that are reflected back when white (in daylight) light is shone on it. There other colours are absorbed. When something appears brown this means all the colours have been absorbed if fact black as a colour doesn't exist except as a paint colour most thing that are said to be black are in fact very dark brown.

Brown as perceived by us humans is not caused by light (which is what a rainbow is made of), but pigments that absorb light. Mixing two or more light "colors" (these are actually wavelengths of light) will get you closer and closer to white light. Mixing pigments on the other had will get you closer to the brown "color". Mixing pigments that absorb the variety of light will result in the perceived "black" color.

Brown light is actually just red or orange light of very low intensity. We percieve it as being a different color altogether though.

Because, when light refracts, it doesnt show brown. Not all colors are recognized. And, brown is more of a shade, than a color. (like white grey and black).

brown is a combination of all three primary colors - red, yellow and blue and as they can't all overlap in a rainbow it won't appear there.
