Change a traditional light to a compact fluorescent or energy efficient light bulb, just conserve energy around the house. Simple acts light turning off a light when you leave a room, spend the extra money for energy efficient appliances, any method of conserving energy will use less energy produced from power plants thus reducing emissions from the single highest stationary source of air pollutants that contribute to global warming.

One of the major gases is not a problem. CO2 is what all plants need to live. The plants absorb CO2 and keep the C and give us back the O2. All the Green house gases are only 1.1% of the entire atmosphere. CO2 is about half of that and is needed for the plants. If the plants die because there isn't enough CO2 for them we all could die. What is your problem with simple plants.

Plant a tree.

It really is that simple. Trees absorb CO2, trap the carbon, then exhaust O2.
