cycle that cleanses the earth every so often?.or will we find a way to stop the end of days.We as a species seem to not take action until our backs are against the wall, until we are backed into a corner. We do not see the big picture until it is too late.Either that or we just do not care or think we can make a difference. What do you think/?

"In 1990 this key cause of global warming was rising at a rate of 1 part per million (ppm). Recently, that rate reached 2 ppm per year. Now, scientists at the Mount Zeppelin monitoring station have discovered it is rising at between 2.5 and 3 ppm. [...]
In the last two decades, carbon dioxide levels in the atmosphere have risen from 350 to 380 ppm and scientists warn that once levels reach 500, there could be irreversible consequences that would tip the planet toward disaster: glacier melts triggering devastating sea-level rises and spreading deserts across Africa and Asia."

This is an excerpt from something I read online. Does anyone know what "ppm" means?

I REALLY need this info!

I appreciate your help. Happy Holidays! =D

I have looked and looked for the answer to this question but I can't find it.
How much reduction in greenhouse gases would there be if you turn down your thermostat in the winter by 5 degrees Fahrenheit?
I found this site that said 2% but it's too little and it just said if I turned down the thermostat, not specifying how much. I also found a lot of turning down the thermostat 2 degrees, which is not what I want.

i need to do research on an aquatic ecosystem for my Biology class.
It's gotta have life, and most cool rivers and lakes have already been picked.
Therefore, I don't want any answers like, "The Nile," or "Lake Tahoe."
I need something that's beautiful and something I can actually find plenty of information on. Something that's not so widely known, and of course once again, gotta have life.
Thanks.
