Well there are few important steps been taken to repair the ozone hole and most important is the unanimous consensus of reducing the CFCs and this I guess has been of much help. It has been said that if we leave the ozone hole like what it is right now and dont emit more CFCs the ozone will get replenished. Now the thing is this was done because we had the necessary scientific know how to make alternative arrangements (like HCFCs) and that was a of real great help or else "our fathers and fate deciders" sitting at the legislatures will not even change anything since it will bring business down.
Now this is not the case with the agents which are creating global warming. All the green house gases causing global warming are the product of things(fuels and energy sources) for which we dont have a solid alternative. And our "fathers and fate deciders" cannot do anything about it. They are going to see if things go well for next four or five years till their tenure. I have seen answers to this question where someone has mentiond about the documentary called "The Inconvenient truth". I really feel Mr. Gore has really done a good job to bring science and hard facts down for the common people and has that amount of sharpness in it to make people feel that its not far when the world in which we are living in will not be the same.
There have been lot of things done by those few who know about it and who are not just sitting there and clapping away (like me) after listening to these facts in a wonderful presentation. And thats why people came up with ideas of many alternate sources of energy and many other ways. But I guess time has come for all the world powers to come together and make some radical changes to expedite these small efforts. The change will not be just in the scientific structure, it has to be social as well changing the way people think at the grass root level. It should not be something like Kyoto Protocol where two of the kids in the group start whining and tell that they dont want to play together(you know whom I meant). Or else we have to redefine the geography of this earth and it will look a nice blue planet far above with water all around.

Yes, for the ozone layer depletion, there was the onterio protocal that has allmost stop all usses of CFC's it was an intertnational agreement to reduce our use of CFC's. On global warming there are several places that are reduceing there dependance on fossil fuels. China is the worlds leader in solar powerd water heaters. In California they just passed AB32 that will cut global warming pollution 25% by 2020 from power plants, oil refineries, and other large manufacturers. Tony Blair, Englands Prime eMiniter has wolked alot on the Kyoto protocal to reduce the world's CO2 emmisions. If ther is anymore information you require and more importantly, how you can get involved to help pass laws, contact me.

Well, yes and no. Many people who believe in global warming and taking a stand, trying to educate other about the severity of this problem. There are masses of people who have taken up recycling(which does help reduce global warming) and there are many alternativer energy ideas that are beign pursued and are on the market, i.e. the electric car, hybrid car, geothermal energy, even windmills all help reduce global warming. Sadly, not enough people have taken a stand, so it doesn't do that much =''(

Not really. If you want to know more, watch the movie, An Inconvinient Truth, by Al Gore. It does a very good job of telling you what's going on.

There are many ideas such as spilling iron into the ocean. The ocean is "animic" and the iron will stimulate the growth of algae. THe algae will be like trees, take out CO2 and put in o2
